i have a couple viruses, that i can’t seem to remove manually nor will my virus software do anything about them-or if it does, it seems to be short term
one is the system32 -this is not the folder but a virus-my virus software AVG tells me its there but cant or wont remove it. my ad-aware and spybot aren’t doing anything either
another, that i think i delete, but then pops up on my AVG is msdirectx, i’m not the computer savvy when it comes to this stuff, but it appears to be gone until my next restart or something
i go about deleting all traces but how can i prevent them permanently? i have a firewall, i haven’t downloaded music at all lately, and even then when i was it was rare…these days i don’t even have time to surf random websites. i only go to a few daily, but they are pretty public and i wouldn’t imagine them having any viruses
i’m so frustrated…i mean my computer seems to be working ok, but what if it crashes??? i can’t seem to find a cure
i also don’t use IE, as it was not working before and now it seems to be where these wierd websites keep popping up from-i mostly use firefox with a lil bit of navigator…i also have my firewall up and security on high
While doing what Gizzy said. Empty recycle bin. then goto
"C:\Recycled" folder and delete everyfin manually. Also "C:\System Voume..." delete stuff from there that looks suspecious.
Newer viruses hide themselves there, and AVG / spyware software doesn't have access to delete stuff in there. ONly way to do it is in SAFE MODE.
You don't need any files in "RECYCLED" folder. Can't remeber wats needed or not in "System voulume..." folder. check internet for that

Download SPYBOT and ADWARE (from download.com)
Install and run each one of 'em one by one. wait until it completely finishes its thing (it may ask to restart and the continue on) and then run the other software. Spybot suppose to be better and they are both do same thing (remove spyware/adware) but sometime you need both softwares.
After you computer is all fine. Install ZONE ALARAM firewall (free) from zonelabs.com
If you have AVG + ZONE ALARAM, you have eliminated 99% hackin into your computer :)
i just use mcafee internet suite 8.0. its got all the utilities builtin. like spam, virsus, adware, firewall all in one. it scans everything and gives me a list of all the suspicious files and i just delete em. :)
