Virus on my yahoo account :(

Looks like my yahoo email ID is sending out bad bad email links to random people on my contact list. How do I remove this virus or whatever it is :bummer:?

Help please.

change your password and secret question asap… u must have clicked on something fishy…and it sent emails from ur account to all your contacts…when u change password…it won’t have any chance to do that again…

if u use yahoo in web browser … if u use in outlook then need some anti-virus run..

It is likely that your account is hacked and someone logs into it and does it. Run anti-spyware and anti-virus scan on your system and then change your password and secret questions of your yahoo account.

Their is no virus here.

  1. Change your password
  2. Change your DOB, Secret Question/Word
  3. Do you use your Yahoo ID to access other websites. For example like “Facebook Connect” - It seems like you do and when you access that particular website with your Yahoo ID/Pass it also gave access to your contacts.
  4. Try disabling access to your Yahoo Account from outside apps.

ps. you never know TLK manipulated your email id :chai:

its happening alot.

my thoughts are windows is infected with a virus and its sending out passwords to a central database where it then is used for any purpose they see fit. ie if they get bank details look out for your bank.

i know 2 people whos hotmail and yahoo started sending out emails to batch contacts.

my advice is check on startup no rogue programs are running (type “msconfig” in search on start(windows) button in botton left of windows and see what starts in start up. uncheck any rogues.

if they re-appear your system is infected. youll need to reinstall windows unless you can stop them starting.

i would backup all data immediatly. your system is on the verge of being hijacked and will only get worse.

u can also use system restore if the virus allows you to. restore to a previous date it should clear the virus.

  1. STOP using Yahoo. Go with GMail
  2. You can’t change your DOB, that’s impossible :stuck_out_tongue: (this was intended for Firenze )
  3. Register a domain “tlk.com” and host it on a secure server. Everyone should be a master/mistress of their own domain.
