is there any virus which eats away disk space… coz 1 week ago i had more than 50GB space on my C drive but suddenly i started getting notifications that my C drive is full…I have thoroughly checked all files & folders but there are no heavy files or programs installed … what shud i do? i have also installed a new anti-virus, scanned every file n folder but still C drive is full

Yes, there is a virus that consumes HDD space by creating folders (thousand’s of folders) and eventually your HDD will be full. You really need to use atleast 2 AV’s to get rid of it. recommend you to first use ESET AV and then go for AVAST AV, as avast really helps in the boot time scan to detect and delete if memory is infected.

Do you have Itune and do you backup your iOS devices regularly? You have no idea how soon your backups can fillup your hard disk space. Clean your iOS backups if you dont need them.

i hardly have any disk space left how do i download these two AVs? will they be effective if saved in D drive?

download this small utility from here and run it. It will tell you what program/folder/file is occupying the most space on your drive

^^ i’ve done that, it showed that i have loads n loads of files, while actually my C Drive is pretty mush empty, wat do i do now?

It should show you by folders. Which folders is it showing as high storage folders?

thanx, i solved the mystery at last, there was a hidden recycle bin folder which was almost 40 GB in size, i just deleted it
