Yesterday I was talking on Google talk, with one of my cousin who is in Pakistan, suddenly one message came up from his side saying that to comment on my Photos on FB wall , I clicked that instant message, which some zip file, I asked my cousin, he told I received the same message from your side.
after logging off, my computor was suddenly shutdown by itself, i turned it on, but again after some time it turned off.
Now this happen after some time.
I am off from work so cannot ask help of our Corporate IT people, but as a precausion I uninstalled all Messangers from my computor.
Because I noticed that the same message is going to my Every Contact present on my Contact list, As the same message was present on my wife ID also which I deleted.
For general information I would suggest GS readers not to click on such message plus
Hope our GS people have more info regarding this new(at new for me) virus wave.
Do you suggest any measures for me to take prior it completely disables me from connection to virtual world.
I was a big fan of ESET, bought 2 year subscription for Smart Security 4.0, After i made my main OS to Windows 7, had problems with my fingerprint scanner, debugging the root cause for it, turned out to be ESET's Firewall (i still don't know, why a Firewall need to block a System driver like my Finger print scanner's driver to work on a laptop, no it isn't trying to connect the internet, its their design fault, may be). now removed ESET, and installed Microsoft Security Essential, good, clean, simple anti virus.
Here is my take on System Security
Use any Anti virus you like (Free one like MSE, Avast, Avira, AVG OR the paid one like NOD, Kaspersky, Bit Defender etc), update it regularly (Antivirus with 2 months old database is same as No Antivirus at all)
Try to use a Firewall (if you are comfortable with it, Free one like the built in Windows firewall, Zone Alarm etc)
And scan your system with a good Anti Spyware App like Malware bytes or Spybot S&D once in weak/month.
And use a safe browser like Firefox or Chrome*.*
Though Eset also isnt the best but still good. There is some connectivity issue with the Eset firewall that appear by time. There are also some of viruses that Eset cant get hold of (even if its fully updated)
Yup, i do find Kaspersky as the best AV, but its a resource hog, try to open a folder with 100+ exe files in Kaspersky system, then you know what i am talking about.
ESET is the second best, sad they cant design a good firewall.
XP's default firewall is ........ crap, but Windows 7's is much better, but i still prefer seperate firewall like Online Armor, Sygate, Zone Alarm, PC Tools free version etc.
