Virtual University of Pakistan, one of the top priority projects of the Ministry of IT, intends to exploit the potential of Information Technology as a key contributor to the socio-economic development of Pakistan. Its aim is to contribute to the development of Human Resource in the field and make Pakistan an important player in IT industry. The inspiration behind the VU is to utilize the services of the best available faculty without relocating them. It even envisages using the services of competent and qualified individuals from abroad.
VU is based on excellent national telecommunication infrastructure and provides educational facilities nationwide. VU teaching methodology eliminates the need for qualified faculty at each campus, thereby providing a uniform learning environment all over the country. VU has started with a 4-years Bachelor of Computer Science program and will introduce Master’s Degree and conversion programs for engineers and scientists in the near future.
If its a "Virtual University" why is there a 'merit' for admission, thats just stupid. Its not like there are limited seats or whatever... Let anyone who has passed their FSc have a go at heigher education. Isnt that just the purpose of the whole thing?

All in all I think its a good idea. Its about time we get rid of each-lecture-delivered-only-once and let people learn at their own pace.

Hello..Dear Fallas..I have got your views and your aggression.. Few things are there… Can you tell me that what is the level of literacy rate in pakistan.. Many families can not afford to send their kids in lust ful universities..
So, its problem in our culture that whenever someone comes up with good idea..we try to criticize a lot and try to put the last nail to the coffin no matter what is the idea and how it will work.
