“Virsa is the first truly international Punjabi film with cast and crew from India, Pakistan and Australia. A Wize Mindz Entertainment production presented by One World Entertainment, Virsa will be shot extensively in Australia. It will bring together the best of the talent from these three countries to give the viewers of Punjabi films an international cinematic experience like never before.”

Why is it a punjabi movie? It's like they don't even care that some of us don't understand the language, and the vast MAJORITY of India certainly doesn't, so I don't understand what this movie is all about other than an atttempt to tie together the two punjabi populations of the subcontinent. If I don't understand what's going on in the movie, I have no desire to see it. Pity. If they had done an Urdu flick, it might have had more outreach.
PCG this film belongs to the regional cinema category, Punjabi films have a huge viewership record internationally so the film was made with Punjabi people in mind. However the film will have urdu dubbing according to Mehreen Raheel when she came on NKS.
You are correct in saying that the film brings together talent from both Punjabi populations, its an ideal venture and for once India is using our talent extensively.
If this was a bollywood movie, it would be dismissed as nothing special.
The only reason why I'd watch it is because its Pakistani. That's not a reason why anyone should tune into a movie or TV show. This is not going to match up to the quality of Khuda Ke Liye, and I doubt any Pakistani is really going to connect with the subject matter in this movie. You can pick up any random Indian movie, and this is like any one of those.
No-one is labelling this movie as a symbol of "real progress" in Pakistani cinema. Its just a mainstream film notable for having Pakistani's involved in the production. No point comparing this and KKL as they 2 totally different films belonging to different genres.
PS if we're giving so much importance to subject matter, does that mean majority of Pakistani's connect to the latest holly/bolly flicks? Because as far as I'm aware most of their content highlights their own culture and values filled with surreal stories...yet they're still watched.
Mehreen Raheel is a goddess... beauty and brains just like Iman Ali. how can a country's film suck industry so bad when it has such gorgeous and intelligent actresses like Mehreen Raheel, Iman Ali, Faryaal Goher, etc?
Jawad Ahmed is a rubbish singer/music director. apart from that Rahat Fateh song which is good the rest will probably be rubbish as is that Hua Hua song.
from the songs, etc seems like a typical commercial musical. I don't know maybe I got my hopes too high but I was expecting something different. but seems like the usual masala except made in Punjabi.
it is disappointing that the film has been made in Punjabi. should have been made in Urdu. plus seems like the whole story etc is India-centric. what's the point of the Pak talent when there is no mention of Pakistan in there?
if this brings money/interest from financiers who want to finance better quality, experimental Pakistani films, then this will be a good thing regardless of how mediocre Jawad Ahmed is or the film being in Punjabi or it being India-centric.
Some ppl are so narrow-minded. regional language films should be made. if you don't understand a language the loss is yours. a large chunk of our population wants to watch these films thats why producers invest money in them.
I was wondering why I didn't hear anything about this movie.
Punjabi movies have a huge draw so nothing wrong in making it in Punjabi.
if we look at the Punjabi movies made in Pakistan with rubbish names like Butt Badshah then this is a MILLION times better.
Good to see that Mehreen and Numan have substantial roles.
Rahet's song sounds so beautiful :) I wish I could understand the whole thing but the music sounds wonderful.
this film luks ok...abhi promos se film ki typical story lag rahi hai....but the punjabi is making it unique so most probably i will watch it. mehreen is a very good luking girl...however she doesnot luk wow wow "pretty" rather she luks innocent in this film. and it would have been soooo better if arya babbar had gone for his previous luk (like in ab ke baras)-he is a goodluking guy but i dont like him with the beard, himesh reshmiyan ki jhalak ati hai. music is good so far....all the best to this film ;)
the film is totally boring and predictable. same old friends-turned-foes-turned-friends-again story. don't know why jawad ahmed was praising it to the skies.oh well he's the producer so no wonder he's on every channel singing his own tunes. he desperately wants his money back lol.
btw, the guy needs to take criticism positively instead of getting all loud and defensive when people criticize his film. jumping on the 'aman ki asha' bandwagon isn't reaping any benefits for him.
