Have any of you been to either of these beaches? We’re planning on going to check them out later on in the summer. I’ve never seen the ocean or a beach in person, so that’s the main reason for the trip. I can’t wait to collect shells and if I’m lucky, star fish and sand dollars!!
If you could share your experiences, it would be greatly appreciated!
I’m in North Carolina and Myrtle Beach isn’t far from here. Never actually went to it lakin driven past it many times. Sister and friends went a few years ago and they had a blast. Right now would be a bad time to go cause it’ll be crowded with tourists. They have a lot of biker races there during this time too so it brings in a lot of people.
Have you heard of Beaufort, NC? You should try to go there if you are able. It’s a very cute little city. It’ll be less crowded and there’s a lot to do like boating, canoeing, fishing, many museums there and wacky stores. You can canoe to this little island where there are wild horses. Of course there is also the beach.
Kitty Hawk North Carolina is where the Wright Bro's first flew their airplane, I hear that is a noce place to visit too, should not be too far from Myrtle Beach.
myrtle beach by far is the best beach you can drive to from DC. its a hike actually 6-7 hrs. but, if you are going with family get a small house on the beach. that way its exclusively yours. and the prices arent too bad either. and you wont have to hear ur mom curse the "aadhee nangee auratein".
another not so crowded place is rheoboth beach in MD which is 2 hrs from DC.

Well it's just me and my husband that are going to be going to the beach.
I've never seen the ocean up front, so this is the main reason for us going. We do want to check out the sites though and I definitely want to do beachcombing.
Do you know if they have weekend rentals at myrtle beach?
If you're looking to go shell-seeking, really the only place to go is Sanibel Island in Florida. Myrtle beach is lovely, Ive been there much since my parents live there and you can find some pretty shells, mostly scallops tho...make sure you shell-seek when the tides are going out. There are many good restaurants and touristy places, the beaches are just lovely. I;ve also gone many times to Kitty Hawk and the "Outer banks" of the carolinas, its very hurricane-prone so look into trip-cancellation insurance if you go there.
