Dears,
I want to try vinegar for treating dandruff of my daughter.
I can see after a lot of online searching that “Apple Cedar Vinegar” is very good.
I hardly ever cook so not sure about the different kinds of vinegar at all, but in Pakistan, the only vinegar I’ve seen commonly is that synthetic white vinegar, called “Sirka” locally.
Will that work?
I don’t know if getting some exotic imported vinegar is a good idea - i believe local products are the best for frequent use.
Please offer your expert opinions.
Much thanks
Re: Vinegar for Dandruff
Also, there are lot of vinegar related tips in the forums here (like yoghurt and vinegar on face) - which type of vinegar are you ladies using for this?
Muchas gracias
Re: Vinegar for Dandruff
AuntyNumber1 i’ve tried a few things for dandruff and nothing works
I’m not too sure about the vinegar though
Won’t it make the hair fall out? ![]()
Re: Vinegar for Dandruff
mama ki dua,
some friends recommended vinegar and then i read more on this forum and on the net in general, so I do want to give it a try.
Apparently 1 part vinegar with 3 parts water and you just pour it onto the scalp and let it stay 15 mins before washing off with shampoo. (experts can correct me if the method is different...)
It's better than trying some hardcore medicated shampoo you know?
Apparently nizorol is good too, but i want to give the vinegar totka a try...
oh, i've also tried few things... selsun blue works temporarily but i think its too chemical full. Oiling also works temporarily.
i think i also need to be bit more persistent... i am expecting some miracle cure which I know won't happen.. it will be a couple of weeks treatment at least...
Re: Vinegar for Dandruff
I've never heard of vinegar, but I'm sure egg yolks help. Never tried it though.

Re: Vinegar for Dandruff
its egg yolk with yougurt plus a few drops of lemon n it definitely works.. but u have to do it for like twice a week atleast :(
yup!! there is a vinegar totka.. apple cidar is defnitely better coz u dnt have to dilute it much.. either ways what i do is .. after shampooing my hair.. i just pour diluted vinegar on my scalp.. then rinse it off after 15mins.. better is NOT to rinse it off.. (i have tried this to0:) )the vinegar smell disappears when ur hair dries.. this did me go0d but not as much as it did to my friend.. it keeps my dandruff under control at-least.. i hope this helps
Re: Vinegar for Dandruff
results???? has anyone tried any of the above and what has worked? thank you
Re: Vinegar for Dandruff
yup i tried.. n it helps to keep my dandruff under control..
Re: Vinegar for Dandruff
Vinegar works.. and so does lemon juice! Use regular white vinegar, you dont need an special or 'exotic' vinegar. To 2 parts water use 1 part vinegar and apply it with cotton-wool to the entire scalp and leave it on. Wash-off with a mild shampoo.
