Vince Carter headed for New Jersey

Vince was traded to the nets for C Alonzo Mourning, F/C Eric Williams, F Aaron Williams and 2 first round draft picks. Basically, it is expected that only Aaron Williams and Eric Williams will be suitng up to play for Toronto and Zo’ might be traded right away, as he wants to play for a contending team. The key to this deal, however, are the 2 first round draft picks that gives Babs lots of flexibilty in trade deals without losing any more guys.

Now by no means is vince going to be replaced by those guys offensivly but what they do bring is their veterenship and hustle defence, which T.O sorely needs. But ever since this season started, i was under the impression that our focus is going to be offence, sort of like Phoenix and Seattle, but obvioulsy Babcock has other plans. Also, by no means is this the “ultimate” trade, as Jalen put it, because surely Babs isn’t done wheelin and dealin yet. Expect to see atleast another 2 trades until the trade deadline this season.

This trade helps Nets a lot as they now have probably the best guard/forward trio in the league in kidd, carter and jefferson.
Ironically, the next raps game is this Sunday against nets at home. Vince won’t be playing as he is still in the injured list but it will be intresting to see him siting on the nets bench in a suit. With this trade, the raps have lost the best player in his history and the definate face of the franchise to the nets but lately he has been in a slump. Maybe moving to new jersey will improve his game again and with kidd at point, maybe he can get back to his A-form again. No matter what happens though, the raps have lost possibly the most important and famous athlete ever to play for a canadian city in any sport. Donyell marshall put it best “Carter was like to Canada what Micheal Jordan was to Chicago”.
Good luck Vince. Surely he will be missed by all canadian B-ball fans for his past if not (well definitly not) for his recent career.

I'm not sure if Toronto got the better of the deal. Three guys in their thirties for a superstar..I don't know. NJ is definitely a stronger team now. I hope the deal has more it than what meets the eye.
Air Canada Center is gonna take a hit for this one.
I'll still be a Vinsanity fan! (only if he wasn't a sissy)

Yes, "Jets" did need a good wide receiver :D
Jokes aside, as i said before, thats not the last trade we will see this season. And obviously babcock's goal isn't to win the championship this year, as you can tell by the draft picks and eric williams eligibilty as a free agent this off-season so expect to see major changes. Its possible that jalen and marshall might be traded to miami for eddie jones and some more draft picks. The good thing is that eddie and rose have an identical contract so money won't be an issue for either team. The problem i see is that babcock is trying to push Bosh ahead way to fast, which might result in him under performing. He should give him time to grow so eventually when he is ready for it, he can take the role of the franchise player that we need. I mean lets face it, right now he's no lebron or dwayne wade. Thats not to say that he'll never be a franchise player. I mean look at nowitzki (good example since he's a porward forward aswell). He didn't come out with a bang in his first or second season but look at him now. He's the front runner for the MVP award after the season.
and since we're talking about nowitzki, he was drafted the same year as vince was. Vince was the rookie of the year hands down in that draft, ahead of dirk, iverson, pierce and jamison. But look at all those players now. It's really sad how vince let his game fall like that, whereas his draft mates are becoming MVP candidates this year.

Ok man! It's the Nets :-D
I hope Eddie Jones doesn't come to Toronto..he is a choker...he failed in L.A and in Miami. Some ppl just don't live up to their potential and he is one of them.

ya

Well jalen rose isn't any better either but yea i agree, unless we're getting the benefit of the deal, theres no point in pulling the trigger. Lets just hope Babs knows what he's doing. I'll be very, very pissed if we find out that he had no obvious realistic plan all along and that he just dropped the ball with this trade. I mean right now, he's pretty much 1.5 for 3 (refering to draft pick, then alston and then resigning of mo-pete). Arujuo obviously is a project but these kind of "projects" should be San Antonio, Detroit or Miami's headache. We needed instant help. I mean look at who he passed to get rafeal arujuo. We could have had Andre Iguodala. We would be in a much better situataion right now if we would have signed him. It could have fixed our lack of guards problem pretty easily and a good substitute for vince and jalen rose. Its decision like these why Toronto is always in the rebuilding process. And i mean in every sport, with the exception of hockey. Earlier this month, the Jays lost Carlos delgado to free agency (who also was the best player in our franchise history) and now we trade carter, though i understand it was inevitable but its the result of series of bad decisions made by the mangement over the period of 5 years. Many people in T.O will boo carter but i would applaud him for coming out honestly and not being a jerk like T-mac, when he promised that he would resign with the raps but had Orlando in his mind all along. I'm happy for Vince. Hope he finally finds a team where he is valued by the mangement.
