If I see our actions as a nation, it seems that we have not learnt any thing.
What a mess we have made of that great ideology. 36 years ago we were one nation. A nation which was founded on the principles of justice and freedom in the name of a religion which condemns all kind of discrimination, Islam as a religion does not allow any kind of unjust action.
Bangladesh ( a final product of 24 years of discrimination as I call it ) celebrated its 35th ‘Victory Day’ recently.
But we Pakistanis , as a nation don’t even want to remember it , why ?
Because it marks a ‘defeat’ which was an ultimate end of a dream, 24 years of mistakes, horrible bloodshed, traumatic agony, and shameful atrocities.
36 years ago , Indian army occupied Dacca and West Pakistani troops surrenderd.
We are trying our level best to kiss off that low-spirited , grief-stricken and lugubrious epsidoe of our history but do you mind to see what our neighbour is doing ?
They are celebrating of Vijay Diwas
What vijay diwas is ?
elll in India it is observed in commemoration of India’s victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war .
[online reference: http://www.tribuneindia.com/2002/20021217/nation.htm#1 ]
I don’t mind Bangladesh celebrating independent or victory day but why on the God’s earth Indians doing backflips in name of Vijay Diwas ?
P.s: It was indeed somber to see no 16 december thread on GS .
After those many encounters, that easy intimacy. we are strangers now
After how many meetings will we be that close again?
