Science editor Alan Boyle’s blog: U.S. Rep. Paul Broun, R-Ga., criticizes, evolution and big bang theory as “lies straight from the pit of Hell” — and the video sets off a firestorm in some circles.
"God’s word is true. I’ve come to understand that. All that stuff I was taught about evolution and embryology and the big bang theory, all that is lies straight from the pit of Hell. And it’s lies to try to keep me and all the folks who were taught that from understanding that they need a savior. You see, there are a lot of scientific data that I’ve found out as a scientist that actually show that this is really a young Earth. I don’t believe that the earth’s but about 9,000 years old. I believe it was created in six days as we know them. That’s what the Bible says.
“And what I’ve come to learn is that it’s the manufacturer’s handbook, is what I call it. It teaches us how to run our lives individually, how to run our families, how to run our churches. But it teaches us how to run all of public policy and everything in society. And that’s the reason as your congressman I hold the Holy Bible as being the major directions to me of how I vote in Washington, D.C., and I’ll continue to do that.”
U.S. Rep. Paul Broun’s view that the theories of evolution and the big bang are “lies straight from the pit of Hell” is getting more exposure than he might have expected, thanks to a video [above] that was made at a church-sponsored banquet in Georgia and distributed by a progressive political watchdog group.
Re: Video shows 'scientist' in Congress saying evolution is from 'pit of Hell'
Only a smart person would say Evolution theory is a hoax, pollutes the minds of so many people. He must somehow be very smart.
yes, this smart person is on record for saying some similar "smart" things about muslims too, american muslims at that. just ask the CAIR.
you right wing religious conservatives are so similar when it comes to hating darwin, homos etc, but ready to slit each others throats as well. funny stuff..

Least he showed his smartness when it comes to Evolution. No one that I know 'hates' Darwin or homos dear. :)
Re: Video shows ‘scientist’ in Congress saying evolution is from ‘pit of Hell’
no no pal, he showed his smartness even when he disses muslims. these are ideas that go hand in hand - it is called backwardly religious dogma. more commonly known in your society as jaahil mullah syndrome.
Re: Video shows 'scientist' in Congress saying evolution is from 'pit of Hell'
well if you want to understand it is pretty simple.
hating on homos, hating on muslims, hating on science that contradicts gospel all originate from one single source as far as guys like this go - his literalist southern baptist faith.
people who don't accept evolution for reason of blind faith, if not from the same blind faith as you, will have similar prejudices against you, because their faith tells them you worship a false god, you are mislead by the devil etc etc.
kinda like how the 'edit' in the religion forum eagerly discuss how dajjal is going to be a jew. get it now?
Re: Video shows ‘scientist’ in Congress saying evolution is from ‘pit of Hell’
You have generalized so much that it became amusing.
There is no such thing as hating homos as you described by religious people. This is what I mentioned above.
Negating homosexuality on the basis of religion or saying they are anomalies cannot be equated as hate.
Similarly if someone from Christianity thinks Muslims have false God does not equate to hatred either.
Religious people are taught this way and most of them feel pity or remorse for others and do not necessarily hate them
Interestingly enough, irreligious and atheists also have completely reverse views, they think all religious people are nuts, have holier than thou attitude, misguided or idiots. This is the way atheists have learned.
Does that mean atheists also ‘hate’ religious people?
Now since I have tackled hate part, lets get to evolution.
Those who deny evolution do not necessarily belong to a specific group but they belong to many different ideologies and may even be very atheistic.
People mix atheism with evolution by mistake. Two different ideologies. One is about denying God’s presence, other is merely a scientific theory still not proven to be true.
The discussion was started from if the man is smart in denying evolution.
If he is one of those who hate Muslims has nothing to do what he said anything about evolution. He may still be smart but misguided.
