my own explanation at this point is that they made more than one attempt at making the video, somehow botching the first one, and then edited it later to make it look “presentable”.
no ‘smoking gun’ here imo.
the freepers are just shooting in the dark to answer the conspicuous absence of blood.. if this indeed was a live severing of the neck the people who were doing it at such a close range could not have avoided being blood stained.. the lack of blood is an unanswered question.. big question .. and for that matter so are the calm demeanour of their captive, when and why he grew a beard in that fashion and why was he still in US prison garb when authorities claim he was let go earlier... and why did CIA inject "Al-qayda" in the translation when the original script that was read doesn't mention it.
Anyone else know what date Mr. Berg's body was reported found?
Alas we may not know much his body was laid to rest today.. i wonder why there was no autopsy done to find out more.

PA, theres a lot of different little things that might be explainable individually, but the more you consider them as happening together, the more it leads one to thinking that there needs to be more analysis of this tape.

why is it over the top for you to consider the possibility that this video might be fake/manufactured/contrived/etc?
do you believe that the Mirror photographs were fake? On what basis does that belief stem from?
Ravage.. i dont need no basis shases to believe in anything. Gut feelings dictate what I believe in. My gut tells me that some idiots will always blame Americans regardless of what happens, and regardless of how good it might have done to lift people from oppression. Wish I could say the same for Islamic countries. We can’t even protect our own people being killed by our own people, but we sure are concerned about a few Iraqi asses shown on TV.

Yes, you make a valid point about our inability to stop being brutes towards our own people, but that doesnt necessarily link to this discussion.
There are idiots both sides of the fence. You need to get out of your black and white picture of the planet and realise that you trivialise things incredibly when you apportion all the altruism in the world to one side of the planet, all the malevolence to the other. Both sides comprise humans, both with human failings.
The Mirror photographs were all about timing. They wanted to cash in on public resentment generated from the american photos, in order to snowball their effect. These might be counters to the public revulsion at Abu Ghraib, an attempt to stop the snowball. Certainly, the torture there recieved a lot less air time since, and for a lot of people, seemed to "put things in perspective".
Bear in mind, that the fact that this video might be fake does not show that something along these lines cannot happen. We have been, undeniably incredible brutes in the past. One instance being fake does not mean that the phenomenon is impossible. For example, even though the Mirror fotos were fakes, the British Govt. is still in a tailspin over the allegations that were generated by those fotos.
Its the timing thats suspect.
If nothing else, atleast the denial would go some way towards assuring that if AQ were planning something along these lines, they'd be wary of doing that now.
But then, why am i giving their intellect that much credit.
Listen Kid, I care less if there was an abuse at AlWahatafaka Prison. Because whatever occurred there is not institutionalized like it is in many places. Even the Secy of DOD flew there (because his arse is on line) and both houses are conducting a full “civilian” review of the abuse. The last time the family heard from him was on 9 April (2 weeks before the prison abuse scandal broke out) . His headless body was found near Mosul on 8 May.

There is an excellent book published last year by Bernard Henri Levy, a well-known French author. The book is called Who killed Daniel Pearl. You must have it in your public library. Please read it. It is a result of exahusitve reserach the author did in Pakistan. He interviewed Karachi police among others. He in fact was daring enough to actually go to the place where Pearl was murdered. He went to Afganistan and talked to the people who knew this file intimately. I am not going to tell you what his conclusions are as I am sure I will attract a torrent of hate mail from Guppies which I can do without. Please read the book.
