This weekend I configured a new machine its AMD Sempron 3100+ with Giga-Byte K8VM800M motherboard. Onboard AGP VIA 3S UniChrome technology 64MB. I am running windows XP PRO and 1.5 GB RAM.
The problem is when try to install a certain game it does’nt allow me to install it! I am trying to install HALO PC version but its not letting me do it. what shall I do. I also updated the driver for VIA 4 in 1 chipset but still.

It must be giving you some error message. What is it?
Did you install DirectX 9.0a or later?
How much free space is on your HDD?
What is the location of your TEMP directory? Is there enough space on that drive?
What video resolution are you using? Higher resolution require more video memory. 64 MB is not really that much for the new generation games. Try running it at lower resolution.
What is the condition of your game CD? Is it scratched or new? Try installing from an alternate optical drive (e.g., DVD) if you have one.

That was not of much help. 
Halo requires at least DirectX 9.0a.

have tried all of it. thats why came here. I have downloaded and installed the latest drivers not just for VGA but also the recommended drivers from Giga-byte’s website upg tool. according to that I have most recent drivers for everything!
I have DirectX 9c installed.

I think it is not the correct version of the drivers you are using. Please try the bottom link in my last reply. Sempron does not support the Windows XP-64 Bit.

I don't like the tweaked drivers from the motherboard manufacturers. I always prefer the drivers directly from the chipset maker. I find them, normally, more stable.
The driver version you are using is 16950402. The latest version for your chipset and Windows XP is 16944410. Although, your version number is higher, but VIA website clearly has those drivers under Windows XP-64 bit edition. As your mail suggests you are not using Windows XP-64 bit edition and AMD Sempron does not support a 64-bit operating system, so you should not be using those drivers.

yep that was my mistake, now I have installed the one from VIAarena.com and now message i am getting is “your display driver have serious issues with this game” 
Ihteshaam:- its not about the game, its about a problem which should not be there in the 1st place.

See on Halo website you might have a patch for that.

Good choice of motherboard. I like GigaByte. They fill so much goodies with their motherboards. This motherboard supports both the 32bit and 64bit processors.
AMD is the way to go.
