video getting stuck..

Hey guys.. its been quite sometime that im trying to figure out this problem but couldnt.

I dont know if its got anything to do with my video card or whether i have to install some sort of a patch from microsoft website… the movies that i download get stuck at some places but the audio is still there..the video comes back after 5-7 seconds.. its not just one video, but any video that i try to play…

any clue as to what may be causing it??

any processes that starts itself and takes a lot of resources when your pc is idle.
any downloading being performed while you watching the movie
total or lot of usage of hard disk buffer while pc being idle.

Check any software that you have recently installed.

Lack of memory. Increase ur RAM and KILL the processes you don't need.

there isnt any program running when i play the video...

what is that hard drive buffer that you talk about aaho?
