I find I’m liking these Victorian pieces more and more…I wish there were more pictures available of Saadia Mirza’s work. Does anyone know if her pieces are actual fine jewelry with real stones, or just costume jewelry?

This Kara is so beautiful - the detailing is gorgeous. It’s a piece by Gem Palace in Jaipur and they qouted me 8 lakhs PKR for this piece!
The necklace below is a Saadia Mirza piece - I was qouted 28 lakhs PKR by them for this and a pair of earrings!

My mom got a pair of karas that look almost exactly like that for her wedding, except hers are in yellow gold & diamonds…they’re family heirlooms that were originally made for my great-grandmother 80+ years ago. Apparently I can have them when I get married :biggthumb
That set is beautiful! What do the earrings look like?
PKR 2.8 million = $40,000 US…for that much I expect there to be certification that the stones are genuine.

In Nov 07, me and my mom went window shopping/browsing for gold sets at various pakistani gold jewelery stores...
Daugther of a very very close friend of mom was getting married, and we wondered if a nice little gold jewellery set (in price range 600 or so dollars) will be a good present for the wedding...
lots of shops we went to had some really nice gold sets in this new style that the shop keepers were referring to as "victorian style set" or "victorian set" , ranging in price from 700 -800 dollars and a little different from the pics posted so far in this thread, but still very beautiful in their own regard.
(these were not in the same shops at the time of my wedding about a year or so ago, and were the next new thing)
so even in pakistani wedding jewellery (like small sets from jahez and bari) victorian style seems to be IN for a while now...

the girl in that link i posted above is wearing the same set for a fraction of the cost.
i think the 40k is just a ridiculous price.
