One of our main holiday destinations when I was younger. It truly is one of the wonders of the world. During the rainy season, the falls are absolutely full, but during the dry season you can actually see all the rockery under the water. In Bemba they call it Mosi-O-Tunya, meaning ‘The Smoke that Thunders’. There’s actually a Zambian beer named ‘Mosi’, after the Falls.
The falls actually lie on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe, so the towns of Livingstone (named after Dr David Livingstone who discovered the falls) and Victoria Falls town share the heritage. Lots of hotels and lodges surround the area. Bungee jumping off the bridge connecting Zimbabwe and Zambia, over the falls, is one of the main attractions, as is white-water rafting on the Zambezi River and micro-lighting.
I wish I had our personal pics with me, maybe when I go home I’ll find them and upload them.
