seems ARY Digital bought the rights for VH1 to rival the other viacom channel MTV Pakistan. lets hope VH1 stays a music and documentary based channel unlike mtv pakistan which has nothing mtv about it.

I hate both MTV and VH1. Should have stuck with The Muzik and Indus Music. At least we will still get those two channels here in North America.
BTW, in MTV Pakistan, do they show original MTV programs like Laguna Beach, The Hills or Punk'd and what ever crap MTV churns out of its collective butt hole these days?

^ barely!! mtv pakistan has its own version of crappy shows such as BUTT DA GROOVE, SLIGHTLY OFF, etc. and then every show has the same ol' 3 VJ's.
i'd love to see a show called pimp my rickshaw/cultus.
mtv pakistan has alot of potential but the indus team is too busy making money selling dalda oil and lado sabun every 15 minutes.

^^ I think the financing aspect IS an issue because there's no point running a channel if its not financiallly viable. And please guys, you have to put these programs in the context of the Pakistani society -- whatever I have seen on MTV Pakistan was pretty good. I thought their content is pretty well made, some shows are creative too.
Also keep in mind, that MTV Pakistan unlike most MTV channels airs its main shows LIVE, which is amazing, and its also really cool to watch these really young VJs handle the show so well. I was in Pak and I noticed how well t hey were handling the callers/audience in general.
I think they've been able to bring to fore a really cool new breed of VJs, like VJ Mahira, she's so funky, preppy and cool. And she does her show so well. So these guys are really ahead of the curve in the sense that there shows are not edited/cut/tweaked before going on air: Everything which is happenin is there coz its all live. So I think overall they're doing a rather a commendable job and should only be encouraged.
