The Arlington ceremony is going on right now and it’s beautiful.
Makes me think - why don’t muslims do this kind of thing?? I think there is a similar day in Pakistan, but the honor Americans give to their veterans is a nice morale booster. I don’t see anything similar in muslim countries.
Every country has it PCG. You just need to broaden your observation. Pakistan has a defense day, a separate airforce day and another day (youm-e-takbeer) dedicated to honor the day first nuclear test was done and there are always ceremonies to honor the veterans.
On the flip side, veterans from armed forces especially the pakistani army have it made compared to what goes in the states. My brother's friends was complaining that they don't give GI bill to pakistani army, but had no response that the US army has no fauji foundation and no lands given to them.
Also to remember that US is the only country whose servicemen are practically involved in pretty much every region of the world. And then there are the sad news coming every now and then like the incident happened in Jordan two days back. So it makes it imperative to do every possible effort to make sure that the morale of these servicemen and their families are kept high.

I know i'll be killed for saying this but Pakistan is practically owned by Army :)
So in that way you can compare Pakistan with Egypt but not with US/UK/Canada.

How much land do the soldiers get? As far as I know the officers are the ones who get all the land.

Enlisted soldiers don't get land, but they get industrial jobs with Fauji foundation and benefits including continued access to the army educational/medical system for their families. Still a good deal for people from very low income communities.
Do other countries keep sending their military men all over the globe to bring democracy and freedom to the third world?
American veterans need much more morale boost because they act more like mercenaries for commercial interests than part of a military designed to protect the country. No wonder many don’t want to live anymore.
