Veryyy confused

I don’t know if this is the right place to post this question…but I really need to know an answer. I’d really appreciate any honest replies.

What could possibly happen if someone gets hold of your personal details, like date of birth/ phone no./ address/ permanent home address/ names and nationalities of you n your parents and even the passport numbers…lets say someone got hold of all this somehow n is sending it to other ppl on the internet for whatever dumb reason…what could happen??? should i be alarmed…??? should i just ignore it??? what should i do??

please help!! I’m really nervous.

Re: Veryyy confused

I would be worried about identity theft if this were to happen. I would notify the authorities as soon as possible and keep an eye on any credit activity (applications/spending) going on in my name.

Re: Veryyy confused

Yat Fat is right. Inform your bank, office and other people who should know about it. I would also inform the embassy if you are from some other country.

Btw if u know the person, u should sue him/her.

Re: Veryyy confused

Somehting similar happened to some members of my family.

First of all I would notify the police, as they can look into this matter further. As Namaan has mentioned it is also worth notifying your bank, passport agencies as well as any other institututions which this could have an impact on i.e. workplace, schools, universities and so forth.

Also, i would advise that you join a reputable credit fraud agency. They charge a one off fee normally and they can ensure that other than you, your details are not used for fraudulent purposes. Your bank and the police will be able to put you into contact with a reputable agency if need be.

However, stay calm. There are number of procedures in place to protect you.

Re: Veryyy confused

now I'm even more confused.
how could someone get hold of my bank account etc. when theres no info about it in the info someonne got hold of.
Infact its my child's Naadra form which is scanned by someone somehow n is circulating in the scary cyber world. What can happen in identity theft cases??? sorry if i sound silly or something but I really don't know....

Re: Veryyy confused

Inform the police. They can trace the ip of the person whose behind all this.

Re: Veryyy confused

Afia people can present that information to the banks and other institutions to get more access to your accounts there. It also depends on the security level that those banks or companies require to let some one into your account.

Its same as some one else comes to your house as you and knocks on the door. Your husband might ask, who is there? ... and she responds in your voice ''maa afia gee''. So 99.9% chances are that he will open the door :)

so i hope u got my point ... hehe

Re: Veryyy confused

Yea yea Riya is right … they will trace the IP :smack:

Do you know there are 1000 ways to mask the IP :emmy:

Re: Veryyy confused

Infrom the police at first instance and take it from there. Do you have proof that this has occurred?

Not to scare you, but if this is in relation to bank details people can get out loans, open bank accounts or set up direct debits in your/your daughters name. That's the case in England.

However, it will not get to this stage if you contact the authorities and take it from there.

Hope that helps

Re: Veryyy confused

which police???
I mean forms are probably leaked/scanned in Pak...info is about a second country...i am in a third country....the person informing me told me to sue NAADRA n pak Govt. .....its all so scary n confusing

Re: Veryyy confused

Contact NAADRA and let them know ..

I am sure they will give you a solution or at least will be aboe to tell you, how that information can be misused

my guess is, there is nothing much can be done with that info anyway, unless you have properties in pakistan under your kids name

so dont worry too much

Re: Veryyy confused

if a wrong person is able to obtain your personal info, they can open new credit card/bank accounts, work, commit crimes and can practically LIVE under your identity...It is very dandgerous. Someone got a hold of my friend's info and got a loan of $20,000 under her name. She didnt find out until a collection agency contacted her for not returning the loan after 1/2 years! You should notify all the credit card agencies plus make a police report for all the documents that you think someone stole. Don't delay it!

Re: Veryyy confused

contact your local police regardless of where the docs were from I think. I don't know if Paki police can help but you should make a police report with them as well in case you're there.

Re: Veryyy confused

Good thing about filing a police report is .. if god forbid, ideintity theft happens, even after few years, you can always present that report as a proof that yes you were aware of that problem and you reported it back then

Re: Veryyy confused

Btw are you saying that this information is leaked out by NADRA ???

If thats the case you should inform NADRA ASAP. It might be a scam.
