very strange possibly never heard of situation…please help

Re: very strange possibly never heard of situation…please help

She really needs to go to a psychologist or psychiatrist, especially a one that is from Pakistan or India that can understand all these biradari/caste and desi family issues.

I would also suggest that both your parents also go see one because living in this kind of situation for 10 years is not good and sometimes it takes an outside person to make someone see things correctly.

^ I wonder why parents haven't tried professional help for ten yrs, the whole family needs it, especially her daughter. Please help her to go to get some professional help. She might open up and able to tell third person.
How about her divorce settlement, child support, alimony?

Re: very strange possibly never heard of situation…please help

Tough situation. While it is a taboo in desi community 'they' need some sort of family therapy. Like mentioned before, a desi doc would be better but it should involve both the daughter and the parents. She needs to realize that what happened was in the past and she needs to move on especially for the sake of her daughter. Easier said than done though. Her parents seem to have apologized but since she is not talking to her mother it does not seem like she has forgiven completely and there is still resentment towards her parents.

Don't think if you can blame her for not telling her parents for how her husband treated her or if she was not happy. That goes to show that she tried her best to m ake it work.

Also, it sounds like she is not receiving child support ?

If she was over 18 when she got married then its HER OWN FREAKEN RESPONSIBILITY .

and I think it has nothing to do with divorce . . . girl must be a lazy bum anyways .

Not if it was an arranged marriage. Unless you have gone through a similar ordeal i would reserve judgement on her.
