Dubai: Prosecutors are questioning a 30-year-old man who allegedly sodomised and killed a five-year-old boy inside a mosque’s washroom in Al Qusais during the first day of Eid Al Adha last Friday.
Other sources claimed the boy was 10-year-old.
The suspect, an Emirati of Bahraini origin, reportedly lured the Pakistani boy to the washroom after promising to give him an Eid Al Adha gift.
Prosecution sources told Gulf News, the suspect allegedly stuffed the victim’s mouth with his gotra (head dress) to prevent the boy from screaming before proceeding to sodomise him.
The suspect, who was allegedly under the influence of liquor, then banged the boy’s head against the wall before running away from the scene.
The suspect was arrested after his fingerprints matched with those lifted from the crime scene.
"The alleged incident happened at 9.30am last Friday following the Eid prayer in a mosque in Al Qusais. Meanwhile, the suspect was arrested on Saturday. The immediate cause of the death is yet to be announced following further investigations by Dubai Police’s Department of Forensic Medicine.
“The suspect has admitted that he raped and smothered the boy but he claimed that he didn’t intend to kill him. He is currently under provisional detention until further investigations,” a Dubai Public Prosecution source said.
Sources close to the investigation claimed that the suspect admitted to having consumed liquor in Umm Al Quwain on the eve of Eid. He returned to Dubai the morning after and attended Eid prayer in the mosque.
“Later, he went out and saw three children who walked towards him and asked for an Eid gift. The suspect allegedly asked the five-year-old boy to follow him to the mosque’s washroom where he promised to give him his gift. The Emirati alleged, during questioning, that he undressed and sodomised the boy who screamed and cried. He also admitted that he stuffed his gotra in the boy’s mouth, pressed his hands against the boy’s mouth to prevent him from screaming and continued his sexual assault. The suspect alleged that the boy stopped moving and he didn’t know whether he died or just lost consciousness so he banged his head against the wall, dropped him on the floor and ran away,” claimed the source. Advocate Eisa Bin Haidar said the suspect, if proven guilty, will face capital punishment.
“According to the Federal Penal Code, a suspect faces the death sentence in case a court convicts the suspect of raping a minor (under 14 years old). A premeditated murder suspect also faces the death sentence. In this alleged incident, the suspect is looking at a capital punishment on two grounds first, a minor’s rape which could have led to his death or if the rape was linked to the murder,” Bin Haidar told Gulf News.
An Emirati elderly said: “I saw interrogators, paramedics and police forensics investigating the alleged crime scene. I saw the boy being taken out of the washroom and there was blood on him.”
That savage will be getting off lightly if given a death sentence. He should be sentenced to chinese torture for life.
