hey…i am from karachi and my skin has never been fair or white but its more wheatish in color…how ever i have had a very prolonged exposure to harsh sun all through my school and uni years and now all the exposed body areas like face neck and arms are very dark … while the un-exposed parts are the same wheatish colored. i need some good recommendation which can lighten up these sun damaged areas to their original color.
another problem is that my skin is oily and i get frequent breakouts and then these acne leave scars and post-inflammatory hyper-pigmented spots and these spots dont clear up even after a whole year! the result is my face looks like a post war zone… bumpy, spoty, dull and life less! so some help here as well.
now the last problem! i have a really bad case of dark circles around the eye…its been like this for years and i;v tried a few products but none help, presently using neutrogena fine fairness eye cream but no results so far.

1- iron? as in blood iron?
2- yes pick my pimples often...but even the one's i never pickd at all leave scar and pigmentation
3- dont use a toner/astringent...tried using them last year but dint find any immediate result so the enthusiasm wore off
4- pillow case? thts an interesting question? why?
5- i must admit i dont drink water as often as i shud, but since 3-4 days i'v starting drinking 500ml bottle in one go and i take around 4 of these in one day...but thts only since last cuple of days
6- i have taken complete acne courses from different dermatologists, these included antibiotics and retinoic acid creams like isotrex but once i finish off the course the condition recurs...the winters are better as i get less breakouts, but summers are the worse since i'l be facing regular breakouts and then pigmented spots through out the summer.
7- products for what? to lighten the tan i have tried the desi totka's like basin ka paste, lemon, glycerin, saeed ghani's sandal soap...also tried dr. khurram mushir's kojic acid+phitkari+rose water stuff....for acne have mostly stuck with doctor prescriptions and wash my face with saeed ghani's neem soap
8- previously was not using any sunscreens since what ever i tried was very oily and resulted in more acne, but recently i found neutrogena ultrasheer spf30 and have been using it whenever i have to go out in sun
and by the way i am female, i know my nick suggests otherwise.
You need to avoid the sun and when you are out in the sun make sure you use a good SPF30 plus sunscreen. As for the scars left over from acne and the uneven skin tone...use besan mixed with haldi and lemon. It does work but it can take a long time to see results- especially for acne scars. I used to have acne when I was around 16 and after taking a course of roaccutane allhamdullilah it hasn't returned, however, the scars took a couple of years to fade completely. Also even though I just get a spot here and there (generally 1 around period time), I still change my pillow case every second day (flip it each night) so ensure you do this as you mentioned your skin is oily.
Also...make sure you have a healthy diet to avoid getting spots..lots and lots of water, avoid junk food, eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. You could also monitor when you get spots..is it around the time of your periods? In that case it's hormonal OR is it if you eat chocolate or something else? Take note of these things and you'll have a better idea of what may be causing it.
My acne was really bad as well when I was 16...my whole face was filled with pimples and just like you I had oily skin and because of that I looked as if I never washed my face even when I always did...My mother got me these pills named roaccutane, I had two per day and about 2-3 boxes and my pimples vanished...Try that if you still haven't...and if you've tried those already and they didn't work for you then I don't know what will.
I used Roaccutane and it was the best decision ever. Some people say it has side effects but Allhamdullilah all it done for me was give me MA very nice skin-it's not worth it to live with the acne and the scars that follow.
My dermatologist told me not to go overboard with the dosage and not to take it in pregnancy…and use it as long as I have acne and then stop it once all the acne has cleared up. I not only had acne on my face but also on my arms once I started taking the pills my skin cleared out…after that I stopped taking these pills but started using acne clarifying soaps and cleansers, astringents and toners..to keep my skin clean and clear…it worked for me…and I am happy
Stress is one of the worst things that can really mess up your skin. Easier said than done i know. I suffered from acne a year or two back, and remember thinking that the acne itself was leading to stress! But seriously, when you're happy - it shows and in the same way when you're stressed it too does show.
Also - try dealing with one thing at a time maybe? So if you didnt use sunscreen - don't fret that you didnt, start using it now. And maybe concentrate on dealing with your acne first?
a.) Get u're iron checked..if u're anaemic it will explain the dark circles. Do they run in u're family? Have apple juice and beetroot and dark green leafy veg's if u are.
b.) Yes, change u're pillowcase often and keep u're hair-off u're face.
