Over the years I’ve come to feel very strongly that Akshay Kumar is one of the most versatile and likable actors of all time in Indian cinema.
It often happens that when new actors come around they’re not accepted as readily and lots of people take a long time to come to start liking them. For me Shahrukh Khan was nothing worth the 2-3 hour hassle back in the 90s. Later as he got polished and kept getting movies which made a mark and made him exceptionally popular I began feeling better about him and his movies too and now consider him guarantee enough for a movie to be at least worth enough watching if not liking. Same was with a few others. I hated Hrithik Roshan. Not that I don’t anymore, I just feel that his presence in a movie at leats guarantees to some extent that it could be worth watching.
With Akshay Kumar, he’s one of those actors for me, like Anil Kapoor, who I’ve always liked from viewing no. 1. Not that he’s never done any crappy movies. He came as an action-comedy hero. Then transitioned to hard core action roles. He is a black belt in martial arts, has literally made it from rags to riches, married a high profile star daughter of two top stars. Does all his stunts himself.
And above all does a wide variety of roles and always makes a mark and appeals not just as a star, but an ‘actor’ involved in the role that he’s playing.
He has some excellent comedies to his credit and there’s no doubt he can cause fits of laughter. As an action star he has no genuine second, with his self-stunts capabilities. And as a drama and romantic actor, he comes out brilliantly in a unique way. Some of his serious, dramatic, depressed and extremely romantic scenes and shots are brilliant to say the least. He captures some ‘every man’ sort of expressions and body language demanded by the situation and the scene.
With all this going his way and in 2007-2008 having done the most business in Bollywood leaving behind even Shahrukh Khan, I am glad for once a guy who’s made it sheerly on talent, ability and passion rather than connections, tact; one who has the skill and wisdom to put in his best is on his way to being recognized as a top actor.
You seem a big fan of him.Yes , no doubt that he is a good actor, n these days he is king.
BUT i like amir khan. Always.
Did you watch Taare zameen par, was not it an excellent movie?
In ghulam movie he did that Train stunt, it was very scary actually.
Andaz apna apna , was a funny movie. And he does comedy very well.
I liked his movie "Dil chahta hai", the last love scene is my fav.
He does only 2 or 3 movies a year which prove a big hit.
The only problem is he stays away from media , you know what i mean.
He doesnot attend award functions , donot know why?
I cannot say i dislike that actor or actress.
All work hard , all do their job.
But In this field luck matters alot.
Some days back i was watching SRK's interview n he said my father was pathan n was from peshawar. We when moved to mumbai, we were very poor.
Most of them belong to a not very rich background.
But its a fact some folks are really very talented, and they work hard and then reach to that level.
Thanks goodness he has been doing much other than spliting and thrusting his teeth into the neck of everysecond heroine of him (reminded me pretty much of dracula the each time, creating even worse sense of abbhorance).
