Verdict on Monty

So what do guppies think about Monty??
Is he better than Giles??
Now he has done pretty well with 2 teams(India and Pak) who play spin best? Do you think he will be any factor in Ashes?

Comparing him with Giles is hardly any contest. Of course he is better than Giles but than anyone is.

Is he a genuinely great spinner, I am not convinced. Yes he took 5 wickets today but let him become more consistent before we pass any judgment on him. Before this test he was on the verge of being dropped. Time will tell.

One thing is for sure He has a mature head at such a young age,and only going to improve in future,because he is a very hardworking and commited person as well.

Better than Giles Even Pietersen is better than Giles. As usual English media is famous for over rating players and thats what they did with Giles. For god’s sake he has a bowling average of 40 in both forms of the game.

Too early to pass any verdict on Monty. I didn’t see him bowling against India however I don’t think he was a threat to Indian batsmen.

Today he was impressive but as Ehsan bhai said, you can’t be convinced. Under exremely pressure situation with Pakistani batsmen playing without any purpose, they can make any one a hero. I think today it was his lucky day.

I have a feeling that he is a sort of bowler who can very easily be unsettled by aggresvive batting. Thats how players from subcontinet in the past, have often ended careers of alot of so called “promising” spinners, prematurely.

He didnot run through Indian lineup but he definitly troubled them a lot and has a successful debut series against India.... I think you guys are still under-estimating him..

He is a very talented bowler and he did trouble Indians a lot during their tour. Only way to go is up so he will def improve and considering aussies history against left armers, he might turn out to be a good performer there.

Hard worker. Bowled well and deserved his wickets in the last test. HOWEVER, we shouldn't have played him so casually. I hope Yousuf specially rectifies what he did against Monty at Old Trafford.

lol, the spinner can't tell if its going to spin or not, pretty hard for batsman to know either.

Bob Woolmer seems to rate him Than again he seems to show confidence in Butt & Farhat).

Next time the Pakistan super star batsmen may be more careful and not take him lightly. He will need to show consistency to see how good he is but seems to be hard worker.
