Has anyone been to this travel hotspot? A lot of Canadians go and say it is amazing. Apparently, it has the best beaches in the world where the sand is pure white. I am thinking of taking a trip down there for a week sometime in December/January.
Lived only 90 miles away from Cuba for over 10 years, I visited islands in the Pacific, train journeyed thru Europe, trekked around Hawaii and drove thru the heart of USA but didn't think of going to Cuba. Probably because of all the travel restrictions on Americans. But I have heard that it is a paradise for tourists (prolly hell for it's residents) and the foreign exchange goes a long way too.
You lived in Florida??
It is hell for the residents. My sister went to Santiago in Cuba a few years back and .... well, they were advised not to leave the resort.
Veraderro on the otherhand is quite good from what I hear. It apparently has the best beaches! :)
Yep, Ft Lauderdale, FLA. I prolly exxaggerated a bit by saying 90 miles from Cuba. Actually the southern most point of USA is in Key West which is 90 miles away from the northern tip of Cuba. Key West is a 4 hour drive from Ft Lauderdale.
I know Canadians love to visit Cuba. I believe there is a direct flight from Toronto, Montreal to Havana.
Living in South Florida among the Cuban disidents, we were fed with a lot of negative press/,media agianst Fidel. So, I always thought of him as this monster dictator. To me any ruler who stays in power for more than 5 years without an election, is a monster. And Mr Castro has been in power since 1959 !
