Venue Help! -- Fellow Torontonians/Mississauga/Brampton/GTA

Helloooo all!

So here’s the thing. I’m venue hunting! And as exciting as it is, it’s also quite stressful! I’m looking for halls mainly in Mississauga/Oakville area, however, I don’t mind venturing out a bit towards downtown T.O or even Brampton. I have looked at Chandni and Woodbine so far. I’m looking for affordable rates like $25 - 35 per head. I’m going to Verdi and Versailles tomorrow. Do any of you know other nice halls in the area? Nothing grand, because that always comes with a hefty price! Love to hear from you all

Re: Venue Help! -- Fellow Torontonians/Mississauga/Brampton/GTA

Congrats!

When are you getting married? The season will impact the price. Also, are you getting married on a weekday (cheapest), Friday/Sunday (more expensive) or Saturday (most expensive)?

Re: Venue Help! -- Fellow Torontonians/Mississauga/Brampton/GTA

bombay palace...... quite reasonable price wise.... food is always very good.....
sangam ... its just ok... dont know about the food
saagan.... beautiful.... but probably bit expensive....

Re: Venue Help! -- Fellow Torontonians/Mississauga/Brampton/GTA

I'm also in the same boat as you at the moment, it's extremely stressful!
Number of guests would also be helpful. Many people I know got married at Verdi, and the hall is pretty nice and the prices are extremely reasonable. Chandni is also an very popular venue. Another place to check out might be Platinum Convention Centre which is in Woodbridge. I'm not sure if that's too far away from you. I'm also not too sure about prices. If you don't mind going to Markham, there's New Jasmine Banquet hall.

Re: Venue Help! -- Fellow Torontonians/Mississauga/Brampton/GTA

InshAllah next summer is the plan. And we're inviting around 300-350 guests.

-Issarahazzile -- Is Verdi a pretty hall? And is the food good? In comparison to Chandni? I think Chandni is a beautiful hall, but it's so overdone, and I would love to try a new place. My whole extended family got married in Chandni. It's still an option, but I would love for some kind of novelty, lol..

Re: Venue Help! -- Fellow Torontonians/Mississauga/Brampton/GTA

I got married at Verdi in March. I thought it was a gorgeous hall, in my opinion nicer than Chandni. The food was great, but I was given the advice from someone to ask for Abdul as the chef when I booked the hall. I would highly recommend Verdi! And the people who work there are so nice/polite and easy to work with.

Re: Venue Help! -- Fellow Torontonians/Mississauga/Brampton/GTA

I personally thought Verdi was really nice hall. I was told that it was recently renovated a couple of years ago. The food was really good, especially the appetizers. I attended a wedding there in March and they had Pakistani food as well as some pastas and things, it was nice having variation and it was delicious.
Lol! You're right about Chandani being overdone. My family is down my throat about having my wedding there, but I really don't want to. It's nice to have something different for yourself, especially for a day like this. :)

Re: Venue Help! -- Fellow Torontonians/Mississauga/Brampton/GTA

Re: Venue Help! -- Fellow Torontonians/Mississauga/Brampton/GTA

It's so stressfull finding a hall, especially with the prices and all. I'm getting married in two weeks at Bombay Palace. I looked around a lot as well but Bombay Palace feels and looks very new and modern (after the renovation) and their food is also really good.
If it is possible for you, go ahead and do it on a weekday like Thursday or Monday. It's evening time anyways.

Re: Venue Help! -- Fellow Torontonians/Mississauga/Brampton/GTA

-Bombay Palace is pretty!

-MissSn: I checked out Platinum Convention Center, and it's simply gorgeous! But it looks wayy too expensive! Are you sure they're withing $25-35 per head range?!

Re: Venue Help! -- Fellow Torontonians/Mississauga/Brampton/GTA

Stay far away from Versailles!! My cousin got married there and it was the worst food, and the owner was a horrible!

Re: Venue Help! -- Fellow Torontonians/Mississauga/Brampton/GTA

strawberry - i think it's slightly more expensive (about $40 per head) but it really depends on your number of guests. The guy we dealt with (Manny) told us that he basically has to make 10K on a Friday night (in the big hall - which is gorgeous) - so whether we invite 250 guests or 300, our difference was coming to around $500 (it was 500 more for 300 guests).

They also have a smaller hall (the big hall accomodates upto 600 I think) which is cheaper. It is in the same building but has a side entrance. When we cehcked it out, the smaller hall had small issue with is (which u cant tell in pictuers but we inspected it very closely... they had some chandeliers with crystals missing.. dance floor had a few tiles missing)... but Manny told us that they were renovating it.

It's worth checking out :) We didn't bargain too much so maybe they would come down lower than $40? He initially quoted us $50 I think

Re: Venue Help! -- Fellow Torontonians/Mississauga/Brampton/GTA

Thanks so much MissSN, but that's way too pricey for us at the moment! Especially with our guestlist, lol! But your info is very much appreciated guys :)

Anyone heard about Apollo? It's supposedly still under renovation, but their functions have started..

Re: Venue Help! – Fellow Torontonians/Mississauga/Brampton/GTA

Capitol in Mississauga (http://www.capitolbanquet.com/htmlsite/htmlwebsite.html) is pretty good… had brother’s and cousin’s reception there last year, and my wedding reception was at their older location. Their food sets them apart from many other halls in the area and their arrangements and default decor are generally fine but customizable according to your requirements and budget.

Re: Venue Help! -- Fellow Torontonians/Mississauga/Brampton/GTA

There's also Maple banquet hall too

Strawberry87... I'd stay clear of Apollo. My friends wedding was supposed to be there (first weekend of July), but they didn't finish building it on time. Apparently, they will not be done with the construction until the end of this year!
I wouldnt trust someone who isnt done on time and makes me change my venue a week or so before the wedding!

Re: Venue Help! -- Fellow Torontonians/Mississauga/Brampton/GTA

I'll be visiting Capitol as well sometime this week! Hope it goes well!

MissSN: Are you serious?! What did your friend end up doing? :S That's horrible! We visited Apollo and the facility is sooo nice! The man told us that all construction will be done by the end of August, however their first function will be taking place this Friday, even though construction is still on.

Re: Venue Help! -- Fellow Torontonians/Mississauga/Brampton/GTA

The were trying to work with her to find another hall but utlimately she found one herself.
They mustve done the same to many others because when we went to see them (this was back in April), they had told us that their first wedding was booked for June and that they had alot of summer weddings... so im sure they've cancelled alot of weddings! We're mid-July now... if their first wedding will be on Friday and their first scheduled event was 1st weekend of June, that's a pretty bad way to start
