Venice (Venizia)

There is no city like this in the world. It’s actually small islands connected by bridges. The histroy of the city dates back to Byzantine empire in 700 A.D

I didn’t see a car for two days. Fresh Flowers on window sills, Super Thin pizza crusts, marble wells, narrow streets filled with little shops.

Re: Venice (Venizia)

Beautiful.. how many days your trip lasted?

Re: Venice (Venizia)

10 days - next stop was florence - firenze :)

:)

You go by train ? ..through alps?

Re: Venice (Venizia)

Flew into Geneva - drove in Switzerland

Flew from Zurich to Venice and did of Italy all by trains.

If you had taken train from Zurich to Milan and Then Firezne.... the scenery is far more beautiful ...

Re: Venice (Venizia)

We were really on a tight schedule. Hubby wanted to see Venice and since we had so many other cities to do we had to forgo Milan :( but next time insha'Allah

Instead of just running and running. .the best way to enjoy Italy as Italians call ... dolce vita (sweet life) ..

Rent a villa in Tuscany Region ...and spend 10 days their.. marvelous experience.... eat fresh pastas... with home grown cheese, ... aaah... olive oil.... and the best country side in the whole world !..

Re: Venice (Venizia)

^ are you offering to pay for the villa in tuscany :)

It was crazy but it was worth every minute. Dude you know us new yorkers can't sit still.

But seriously - I did just sit and marvelled at things. It was beautiful and combination of culture history and religion.

If I didn't have a boss and daughters waiting for me - I would just stay there.

Don't live next to Firenze or in Firenze.. move out.. like.. go 100 miles away.. The villa's are dirt cheap.. .. their..

You left your daughters.. behind.. aah.. poor..girls... i feel sorry for them... :(

Re: Venice (Venizia)

Oh don't feel sorry for them - they were royally spoiled while mom and dad were away.

They had their Nana, Nani, Dada and Dadi. My home was basically a senior citizen center for the last week.

I would love to take them when they are a bit older and I don't have to worry about changing tables.

One thing Italy is not is baby friendly

Italians moms are famous for beating & shouting on kids all over the Europe.. :D

Re: Venice (Venizia)

:) I didn't know that.

To be honest with you I didn't see a lot of kids on my trip. Some at a distance playing soccer. The ones that I saw were so well behaved.

I was telling my hubby that I think our kids (Pakistani and American) in general are sooooo spoiled.

I think Italy has the lowest birth rate in Europe...:)

why both of you are making mashkook smilies .. :o

Dunno what mashkook means but I used the smiley because it matched my face when I'm on gupshup. :)

Re: Venice (Venizia)

I am just lazy and like to use :) (this smiley) instead of learning other ones

Re: Venice (Venizia)

so the phrase "Large Italian families" a myth? Maybe they are come from Sisily.

I think Italian families used to be larger, but I also think the image of the large Italian family comes from them being very close-knit, even if they don't have many kids. Unlike some other westerners, the extended family tends to be close and spend a lot of time together...

Re: Venice (Venizia)

Your pictures brought back so many memories of my visit to the fairy tale city! The land of ice creams and pizza and gondolas!
