Re: Vegetarians/Vegans

if i dont have meat everyday, ....

Allah ka shukar hai we get meat on the table every day

Re: Vegetarians/Vegans

^wrong thread buddy..this thread is not to praise meat

Who wants to take a pledge to be a vegeterian for a month with me?

*It is just 30 days! *

Re: Vegetarians/Vegans

Being vegetarian is not being healthy, by deafult ..

I know many hindu couples who are "Vegetarians" but have high cholestrol or over weight or what not

Mind it, eating Samosas, Pakoras, Chaat, Chips, Poori halwaa, paraathay, kheer, zardaa and all this still qualifies you as vegetarian ,, but that is worst than eating baked fish or grilled chicken breast

Re: Vegetarians/Vegans

stop being so negative.

who the heck eats samosas wagaihera that often?

i hate parhatas.

Tofu rocks.

Re: Vegetarians/Vegans

^Great point. Meat is not the ONLY source of fat, gaining weight, etc, you have to be careful whether you're a vegan or not.

Re: Vegetarians/Vegans

I m a vegetarian.. & its a gr8 thing coz u feel more healthy than non-veg.. I do eat meat but now i dont like it I eat chicken sometimes but i love eating veg its the best..

Re: Vegetarians/Vegans

I am vegetarian.

To me chickens, cows, goats, lambs , fish etc they all are vegetable, because they have no life.
Do they ?
No ?

Re: Vegetarians/Vegans

ugh!

Re: Vegetarians/Vegans

There are certain nutrients are only found in meats so vegetarians have to supplement to gain those by taking vitamins. That is if you go deep into nutrition and all that.

I think everything should be taken in fine balance.

And I don't think you are "healthy" necessarily if you are vegetarian alone.

Re: Vegetarians/Vegans

The vegetarian diet of most Indians is something Pakistanis should not deride but rather respect. When environmental analysts compare the development challenges of India versus China, they often note India has an advantage over China in terms of consumption behaviour since more than 30 percent of the country’s population is vegetarian and more than 70 percent consists of very infrequent meat-eaters.

Meat production, particularly beef, is several-fold more water-intensive. China’s population is far more carnivorous and with affluence increasing, demand on meat consumption is also likely to increase. Water will be the most significant limiting resource for much of Asia in coming decades. It is no wonder then that the Chinese government is also considering a campaign to go back to more traditional Chinese diets that were dominated by green vegetables but were subsumed by the carnal impulse of development.

I'm a vegetarian.. I get my protein from lentils and beans. I have a glass of skimmed milk everyday too.

When my haemoglobin is low and I feel tired I add iron rich food to my diet.. I make spinach lentil soup, beetroot soup and have a couple of dates and apple juice.

Re: Vegetarians/Vegans

I was vegematarian for 6 months when i was a teenager (not because i was an animal lover, i’m far from it)… but then gave in because my grandpa’s sunday roasts became too tempting :yummy:

If you are/contemplating becoming a veggie, then it’s vital that you take additional vitamins and minerals to make up for the loss of nutrients that you can get from meat/dairy…

Good luck, and we’ll see you back on the meat wagon pretty soon

Re: Vegetarians/Vegans

i am a vegetarian for 2 years.its not like that i love animals,no infact i dont like them.but i thik its weird killing them for just eating them.especially i your have other things to eat.and i stopped eating it when i saw a dead animal on the road full of blood.yuck

Re: Vegetarians/Vegans

whats so good in being a veggie anyway? i dont see the point. How do one feel healthy being a veggie? what is the definition of healthy for vegans ?

I am a vegetarian, somewhat like them lacto-ovo vegatrians, I am a lacto-ovo-chickeno-beefo-lambo-fisho-shrimpo-ducko-turkeyo vegetarian.

Most of what I eat is vegetarian- aloo gosht, timatar gosht, bhindi gosht, matar qeema etc

I dont deride indian food because its vegetarian, but because I dont like how it tastes
you know what else I really deride, people plagiarising and not giving credit to original author.

Unless you are professor Saleem Ali of Uni of Vermont, in which case I take my words back, and nice to meet you professor saab. Can i get a signed copy of your forthcoming book “Treasures of the Earth: Need, Greed and a Sustainable Future”

PS: and if you are not Dr. Saleem Ali, and he actually did chapa of your words, then you have my apologies, and we should really expose this dabba doctor to his university for plagiarising.

PS2: have a good day

Yup I agree, Make sure there is some other reason involved in that killing like revenge or because you were target practicing and decided to do it on a goat.

Killing them just for eating is not good

Re: Vegetarians/Vegans

lets just say that humans and animals are in competition for resources of the planet and thats why we kill them, and i mean it will be such a waste if we dont eat them, all those chops and primeribs will have nowhere to go :(
