Vegetarians and Bakra Eid

So those of us who dont enjoy eating meat and are almost borderline vegetarians .. what do you do on Bakra eid when all you get is meat at every gathering you go to? Do you go with the flow and eat it forcefully or just carry on looking for vegie options on the food menu?

Re: Vegetarians and Bakra Eid

Daal all the way!!

My mom makes daal and sabzi too for Eid lunch so I don't have to worry too much. If we're at someones house and it's only meat on the menu then I just eat some rice with some masala or something. Oh and I eat chicken also so it isn't THAT bad for me. =D

Re: Vegetarians and Bakra Eid

Same is the case with me , last year a family invited us for dinner on eid and there was nothing vegetarian on the menu .. I ended up eating rice with some masala :lifey:

Re: Vegetarians and Bakra Eid

aaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwww what a day of torment for veggie folks...they just 'fast' thru the day or carry a barrel of Pringles :D

Re: Vegetarians and Bakra Eid

that sounds like a threat to chicken bryani :cb:

Re: Vegetarians and Bakra Eid

lol Paki Rana .. I know , I am shivering in fear here :omg:

Re: Vegetarians and Bakra Eid

I am a vegetarian, and I must say most people these days always have something vegetarian on the menu. I was at a dinner on Eid and another one last night and both had really nice veg options. Eid dinner had vegetarian shashlik and roasted veg with haloumi cheese. Last night had stuffed peppers with moroccan couscous and an unsual one; okras with aubergine gravy!

Re: Vegetarians and Bakra Eid

Oh then my dinner would never have suited vegetarians. I had all meaty dishes on the menu, nothing without meat except the sweet dish and raita :whistling:

Re: Vegetarians and Bakra Eid

That sounds amazing! I would love to get the recipes for the roasted veggies with haloumi & the okra/aubergine dish if possible!

Re: Vegetarians and Bakra Eid

My mom makes sure that we have something vegetarian or some chicken made

Whenever we do go out I just eat rice with shorba/masala.
