Vegetable shepherds pie

So , normally i make it using mince meat … but dad is around and he isnt supposed to eat meat at all for health reasons … he saw us eating some mazay sai and is insisting he wants the same dish with the vegetarian base …

so what vegetables will go well in the base? he doesnt like leek or celery …

help please

Re: Vegetable shepherds pie

Why don't you use quorn instead of mince. Otherwise it's just a plate of veg with mashed potato.

Re: Vegetable shepherds pie

How about green lentils, and carrots, and maybe peas?

Or a mixture of lentils and beans to give texture, with veg? So black eyed beans, green lentils and veg of your choice? I'd probably stick to root vegetables to its chunkier though.

Re: Vegetable shepherds pie

Have you made pot-pie before CB? I've had store bough veg pot-pie and shepherd's pie (Amy's)...and they were both good, but I liked the former better.

Re: Vegetable shepherds pie

use quorn mince cb!

Re: Vegetable shepherds pie

nope RV , never had a pot pie :bummer: what vegies are normally in there?

Brit , I used Quorn earlier for a different recipe and parents literally threw up as soon as they found out what it was :frowning:

Tiger , that sounds like a plan … so basically i just boil the beans … or should i do them in some basic masala ( onions and spices ) :hmmm:

Re: Vegetable shepherds pie

:(

Then try various lentils and you can even add some nuts such as walnuts for texture...it tastes good!

Re: Vegetable shepherds pie

I’d probably do them in some masala and onions, it could taste bland otherwise.

Re: Vegetable shepherds pie
