I made these last night and omg sooo tasty! They were perfect with roti and boondi wala raita.
3 medium russet potatoes, boiled with salt
2 medium carrots, peeled and grated
1/2 cup peas, steamed in the microwave
chopped dhanya
salt, red chilli, to taste
garam masala, 1-2 tsp mango khatai powder, 1-2 tsp depending on your taste, do not leave this out, this is very essential in my opinion
anardana powder 1.5 tsp
zeera 1.5tsp
crushed dry dhanya, 1.5 tsp
Mash everything up and shape into patties. IF the mix is too sticky, slightly wet your hands while shaping. Dip into a beaten egg and roll in breadcrumbs. Pan fry until crispy and golden brown on both sides.
Ira, I make them kind of the same way... I only mash potatoes and not other veges. The spices I add are salt, blk pepper, chat masala, crushed dry, and dhaniya seed. I also add finely chopped onions and cilantro.
They sound delicious! I'll try one of these days. They remind me of the vege patties we used to get in Melbourne. Couldn't find them anywhere here. :-\
I made aloo and channey ki daal ki patties. Pretty much the same way, boiled daal mixed with potatoes, dhaniya, mirch and salt. Roll in egg and shallow fry.
thanks IRA Contributions...err Ira :p I like your idea to add mango powder...I usually make veggie patty exactly the way lusi makes 'em but am gonna try your method next time for sure!! :)
Niksik do u make filling in patties with allo and chania kee dall? or talking about their kababs?
Irs i usually add sherreded cabbage and sweet corns to vegetables patties too,and i first stirfry carrots and other vege in little oil and then add to potatoes and other mix,add chopped green chillies and lemon juice and chatt masala for khatayi.try this .
Guys, the reason i thought of making these was we had something similiar in McD at Switzerland. It was their veggie burger there. We found food was very expensive there so this was a delicious cheaper option.
Niksik, i have heard of ppl using daal in patties but never tried them. Hubs liked these somuch i am not sure he will let eat them any other way.
Gemini, boondi wala raita ya dahi phulkian ya pakorian. Allthe same things. you are so not a punjabi!
Mostar, Seabea, chipsy and Corrupto, try these if you get a chance. They are so yumm!
