Vege/Fruit of the week - Banana

Ladies … and Germs :@:

It amazes me how each and everyone of us can brilliantly use the same ingredient in a 1000 different ways …:hayaa: … so I thought of exploring it further.

Each week we will have a certain spice/herb/fruit/vege …please tell us how you use the ingredient of the week in day to day life.

Have a good day :lifey:

Re: Vege/Fruit of the week - Banana

Often I have seen that mom mixex banana and some yoghurt, mashes the banana really well in the yoghurt and then gives it to anyone who has complains of indegestion or diarhea or non stop vomitting ....

and it definitely works :@:

Here’s another one :
Banana is the best feed for tiny toothless babies :cb: … I have seen mothers feed babies banana’s by mashing a bit in their fingers and then feeding the baby :sadiyah:

Re: Vege/Fruit of the week - Banana

Re: Vege/Fruit of the week - Banana

While we are at it, I have a question.. I bought the green bananas hoping they will turn yellow in fridge and not go bad before I finish eating them.. guess what they are still green and taste raw-ish!! Any suggestions?

Re: Vege/Fruit of the week - Banana

GTG , keep them out of the fridge ... and in two days they will ripen ....

Re: Vege/Fruit of the week - Banana

gia, make green banana chips. just slice em thin, fry em, and add salt and red chilly powder!

or, as CB said, leave them out of the fridge, in a warm place and they will ripen.

Re: Vege/Fruit of the week - Banana

banana..eww!

although it does fill you up mighty when you're hungry. easy to eat too. don't need to wash it, cut it up or anything. peel it and away you go!

Re: Vege/Fruit of the week - Banana

Don't put bananas in the fridge. I usually buy green bananas too because by the time I start eating them they are good.
I use bananas + other fruits in fruit chaat and fruit custard.
Banana shake.. very heavy but I would make it when I see bananas going bad.

Re: Vege/Fruit of the week - Banana

Ive seen people give their kids one banana a day when they complain of diarrhea. I guess it helps them become "regular".

Bananas are really good to eat after a workout because of the amount of potassium in them...they help build torn muscles.

I make the bestest, moistest walnut banana bread - YUMMY!

My aunt always says about bananas that you should only eat it in the morning - something about banana ka ghiza subah milta hai. She wouldn’t eat bananas in the evening :hmmm:
