I’m expecting my second child and both deliveries will be exactly two years apart.
I had a LS c section with the first because I wasn’t given much time in the labor room. I personally think I would’ve managed a natural birth if I was given time by my doctor so I don’t know if it’s really ‘failure to progress’. Any opinion on if I’m a good VBAC candidate?
Any doctors in Lahore who support VBACs? I’m honestly sick of this c section nonsense in Pakistan..Please help!!
Hi n7111 whether you are a good candidate depends on if your went into spontaneous labour and if you had a good progression. I was told after a first section there is a 70% success rate for VBAC but it depends on so many factors.
My labor was progressing, but not too fast..I wasn't able to take the pain so well after I was given a pitocin drip so instead of an epidural my doctor suggested a c section because it was 9pm and I was 'disturbing' the other patients in the labor room. Baby wasn't in distress either. It was simply the doctor's decision that a c section is better for me
Oh my that is shocking!! They always recommend epidural with pitocin as it makes contractions much worse. It seems to me that IA you should be able to achieve a successful VBAC with a supportive doc. I would recommend not going to hospital too early as they do have a habit of jumping straight to c-sec in Pakistan. None of my cousins have managed a successful vaginal delivery as doctors always push c-section. Also first labours tend to be slow so if baby is not in distress that is no reason for a section.
I am also planning VBAC for my 2nd child IA. But I never had labor pains even after due date, nor water bag leakage or dilation . even my baby went into oblique position before due date. I wonder will I be a potential candidate for VBAC for my next delivery???
I have heard if one does not have labour pains even after due date or water bag leakage/dilation in first delivery, she will not have any chance for said symptoms (apparently necessary for normal delivery) in next delivery :-(
If you go into spontaneous labor this time around, and if you have a supportive doctor, you might just have a chance..I think it's really important to give yourself a chance if it's safe for you and the baby
