Vaseefas

I dont know of this has been discussed before or not, but I was just wondering if Vaseefas had any islamic basis? and what exactly is a vasefa??

Re: Vaseefas

Vazeefa is usually reciting a particular ayat or reciting of something in a fixed number of times at a (usually) fixed time. For instance, Vazeefa can be saying “Ya Karim-u” a hundred times at a set time. Usually a learned religious or an elderly religious person in the family advises one to do that. They say you should not start vazeefas urself without someone’s guidance or backing. I’m not sure about that since just reciting God’s name, whenever you want or doing a tasbeeh after, let’s say, Namaz-e-Asar, shudn’t require a permission from a religious scholar/elderly. Not sure though!

I read somehwere, that God has several names and He says, call me by those names. I like reading this stuff and often say a tasbeeh of a different name of God, after a namaz. I don’t know if I shud seek permission for that? Wallah Alam

There are more religiously educated people here on this forum who can guide us better. :jazak:

Re: Vaseefas

I have heard that vaseefas can be used for good or bad use soo which is why I was wondering if it has any islamic basis to it. I have only heard of vaseefas amongst paks.

Re: Vaseefas

Guidance is **ONLY **from Allah:swt:

For the query in the original post, I, for one, believe in the words of Wazaaif and consider them very much Islamic. I’m sure scholars can answer you better but you won’t find them on this site anyway.

Re: Vaseefas

If wazifa means reciting a particular ayah specific number of times and is backed by sunnah it is allowed IMO.

For example.

1-Reciting last three surah of quran 3 times each in morning and in the evening is recomeneded and is supported by an hadith in mishkaat

There are others as well.

For masnoon duas.

Note that some duas are recited specific 3 of times.

Re: Vaseefas

which r allowed by hadith, its ok, but which r made up by people r not allowed....

e.g. someone tells u that read ya hayyu ya qayoom 99 times and then read such and such verse so many times and repeat this for 40 days, u shall be cured or any other problem shall be solved....
this is garbage and has no basis in Islam....

someone told Abdullah Ibn Abbas (ra), or some other companion, about a group of people who sat in a mosque and repeat Allah's name in a group gathering....
he went angrily to them and told them that the Prophet (saw)'s shroud has yet not been stained and u have started such innovations!!!!

Re: Vaseefas

Well I have heard some freaky stories from ppl which have read vaseefas or which know people which have read vaseefas. Apparently you see strange things and your not suppose to be afraid of them or else you go mental?

Re: Vaseefas

^ that is totally unislamic....
and most of such stories r false....

may Allah keep the muslims firm on their faith....

Re: Vaseefas

These are wazeefas black magicians do for their evil practices.

Nothing religious in them

Re: Vaseefas

aap nay to baal ki khaal utar dee. I meant that people who have more knowledge can shed some more light or share with us their knowledge. Of course, Guidance is only from Allah :swt:

Re: Vaseefas

Yes, Wazifas are Islamic. Ask any scholar.

Re: Vaseefas

thanks Bao Bihari, is it possible to suggest to Islamic sites: to add voice clips or Roman Arabic with Arabic text? That will make it possible for ppl like me to try and read Arabic text as well.

Re: Vaseefas

I agree with armughal bhai here.

I've seen people suggest read this and this or such and such names so many times and such and such would happen. Where's the evidence? Is there any solid and authentic evidence in Shariah or is it something that individuals have come up with on their own?

Re: Vaseefas

I really can’t say much about, read this and this wud happen. But my general understanding is that Allah’s names have barakah and depnding upon the meaning, those names can have some barakah for us. For instance, they say, Hazrat Ali :razi: was given the title of “Karam-ullah Wajhu” because he used to recite “Ya-Karimu” a lot. Al-Karim is one of God’s beautiful names. Similar way, Al-Razzaq is one of God’s name and if one calls upon Him by this name, doesn’t it mean that you are calling his name as being the one who provides Rizq, so the frequent recitation of this name is suggested for increase of Rizq. I can’t say much about when people say read this and that, but my understanding is that, call upon Allah by his beautiful names and He listens. I read somewhere that Allah himself asked us to call him with his beautiful names. Does reciting it for a number of times, let’s say one tasbeeh, become a vazeefah?
P.S. I’ll try to dig some resources where I learnt the above. May Rubb-e-Karim have mercy on all of us, ameen!
