ravage, i am merely saying, al qaeda operatives are primarily active in countries where the government machinery was quite supportive of their terrorist activities - eg. afghanistan under taliban, pakistan under pretty much everyone who fostered jihadi camps. india didnt have such state policies.** hence no al qaeda operatives from india.**

well, the existence of even a single al-Qaeda operative from India renders that statement untrue…such trivial deviations from the mean don’t change the basic idea. we all know what is trying to be said here.

the counter to that is that its only a matter of time till more of the same emerge. there werent any "pakistani" suicide bombers so far, until these recent london pakistani origin folks. turns out one of the london bombers is indian origin.

likewise, there arent that many Pakistani grade A Al-Qaeda operatives either. One proper Al Qaeda operative is pretty significant in my book.

Well then prove it by sufficient data as to why do u think india can be a haven for islamic terrorism and can churn out more terrorist.
How many indians got trained in Afghanistan, how many of them visited pakistan madrasas. How many are sympathetic to Al queda and their ilks.
U got a case in Bombay about a man who indian police say wanted to bomb london( remember he is not convicted). But none of those countries ever wanted this guy to be extradicted. Is that possible.. wouldnt he be in Gautenamo or in some high security prison in london by now.

a single jew with an itchy trigger finger could wipe out all 1+ billion of those screaming Muslims in under 5 minutes.

to be feared, you must hold power. just having a huge population doesn’t mean anything if they are all starving third world-ers, and as a community hold no military/economic/political clout whatsoever.

again, a couple (literally) of indian-origin muslims being alQaeda members doesn’t mean anything. the point is that there is no system, educational or otherwise, in place that will breed or attract al Qaeda style terrorists, despite having an equal Muslim population to Pakistan - and thus, you don’t see any real connection between Indians and al Qaeda.

the contrast is that in Pakistan, there is a strong madrassah system, state-backed breeding of terrorists (still active in some areas), hundreds (more likely thousands) of foreign al Qaeda agents enjoying safe haven, and a populist support (implicit or otherwise) of al Qaeda.

the environments are totally different. Extremists go to Pakistan for the Jihadi diplomas…this is very different from a few Indian-born guys who end up as al-Qaeda agents.

i havent read about them, but i would bet that the Indian al-Qaeda guys left India long back and received “training” in some other country. their connection with India is minimal.

I don’t think there is even a debate here. Just pick up a paper, any paper in NY. Go to the business section, you get news on India. Go to the world section you get news on Pakistan. Not to mention the op-ed pieces. Neither one complimentary. It is sad really…something should be done. Today’s NYTimes has the Peshawar journal. Guess what they are talking about? anyone?

With so many smart pakistani people around the world, and in the country, there is really no movement to change the reality (it is not a perception) anymore. And that is the sad thing.

actually all its proves is the pakisatanis are coolies of jihad…their leader is a non-paki (OBL,Al-queda, the “indian” master mind of 7/7 etc.) but the foot solderies are almost always pakistanis.

Not really, I remember an article showing girls and boyz in a “school-like” enviornment being trained how to use arms and the article talked about “working from grass-root levels”… but you can keep denying, bury your head in sand.
