Various Scenarios

Group A
Pakistan 4 points Run Rate +1.606
Australia 2 points Run Rate +1.000
India 0 points Run Rate -1.080
West Indies 0 points Run Rate -1.501

**Remaining matches:
**
India V Aus
India V WI
Pak V Aus

  • Tomorrow India plays Aus, lets say Aus wins they will be on 4 points and India and west Indies will be out of the tournament.
  • If India wins they will be on 2 points and so will Aus. Lets say than aus beats Pak and India beats WI. Than all these three teams will be on 4 points and it will come down to Run Rate.
  • India beats Aus and Windies and Aus lose to Pak. Aus will be out.
  • India beats Aus and loses to windies and Aus beats Pakistan. Pakistan and Aus will go through.
  • India beats Aus and loses to Windies and Pakistan beats Aus. Pakistan goes through while it will be between India and Aus based on RR.

as far as Pakistan is concerned there is only one scenario above under which they might not qualify for the semis.

lets hope Aus beats India tomorrow and we qualify for the semis before we meet aus.

Go Australia.

I like this scenario the best :) Looks like its going to come down to run rate for India under any scenario...

Re: Various Scenarios

they're saying Pakistan is through. i've been wondering about eb's scenario 2 for a while, why doesnt that factor into the analysis. or is the presumption that pakistan's run rate is so good and india's so bad (1.6 vs -1.something) that it would take a ridiculous margin for pakistan to go out? but India hasnt played WI yet so isnt the ridiculous margin a possibility. somebody better versed with RR calculations can help maybe.

Lets wait till tomorrow. Picture will be get more clear this time tomorrow.

Re: Various Scenarios

*I hope today we'll find out the 2 teams who'll be going to semis from Group A

Re: Various Scenarios

I say if India beats australia Pakistan should work out exactly what it needs to do in order to ensure that Australia and Pakistan go through the group. Go in with that game plan, whatever it entails.

^ We should go into the game with a winning not defensive mindset. Don't know why we should fear Australia so much. They are still formidable but definitely more beatable than pre-2007.

Re: Various Scenarios

its not defensiveness its dushmani :D
