add boiled rice into the tamirind and its ready ....
hi apple, no you dont need to grind them , i just add a few pieces of them anyways ... they just help balance the taste ... and they get cooked in the imli sauce ... so you dont need to powder them at all ..
But i must warn you , this is khata dish ... and not alot of people have that taste for something like this .. if you wanna try , try just a little amount and if you and family likes it then make it family size portions ...

Pinki do you know how to make Chicken tikka biryani? wanna share your recipe?
This is how i make it:
Take 1/2 kg chicken, and marinate the chicken pieces with yoghurt, coriander & mint paste, tikka masala powder, crushed red chillies and lemon juice.Let it marinate for 2-3 hrs.Once marinated, cook the whole marinated mixture with chicken on a tava for 10-12 minutes.
For gravy, heat oil. Add finely chopped onions. When golden brown, add chopped tomatoes and cook till thick gravy. Add powder masalas, salt and yoghurt. Cook till the oil seperates. Now add the chicken tikka pieces and cook for 4-5 minutes on medium heat.
Boil 1/2 kg rice with elaichi, zeera, salt and cloves. When they are 80% done, drain the water and add the rice on top of the chicken gravy. Cover the lid and cook on very low heat for 15-20 minutes.
