Has anyone tried Vaniqa prescription hair cream? It is supposed to reduce hair growth. Does it work?? I’m tired of having to go for threading every week, plus the places around here have chairs so that everyone that is waiting can see what you are getting done. So embarrasing!!!
Please reply with your experience(s) w/ Vaniqa. Thanks!
waxing can slow hair growth
some homonal medicine can slow hormones
what is inside vaniqa that could slow hair growth?
if it is hormones, it must be prescribed by a doctor after lots of analysis (blood test, echography...) and due monitoring of health evolution...
if it is NOT then it's a commercial trick used by most cosmetics brands to get naive girls buy their products...
ps, hormonal medicines have LOTS of side effect, and you might ponder what you dislike most: weight gain and big legs (water and fat!) OR body hair???
on the other hand, laser can destroy body/face hair without side effects
I have never used it, but i have heard it works as long as you keep applying it every night. So when you stop using it, hair comes back so you are better off investing in laser hair removal but thats kinda new and we dont know the side effects of that yet.
Laser hair removal is quite old now actually, they also introduced laser treatment especially for asians, ofcourse we have darker, more courser hair compared to white ppl. It does work apparently, it weakens the root of the hair, but theres no guarantee that the hair won't grow back.
It actually grew back for one my friends and she had to go back and get laser done AGAIN. Its new in the sense that we havent really seen how it can effect the skin over the years where as waxing, threading, creams have been around for a LONG LONG time
Vaniqa might be useful as it is introduced by Bristol Myers and Gillette. I guess, it was a joint venture research. These 2 are reputable companies.
According to their research, it worked on 58% females. so its like 50/50
That’s exactly the reason why I don’t want to do laser hair removal. I have already tried laser hair removal, but the hair is back, and I don’t want to spend my money or time on it again. Most of the time I used to get horrible scars (that would go away in a few days), but I don’t want to go through that again, just to have the hair come back again. I do admit the growth is less than it used to be, but I’m probably going to stick with threading and waxing. I was interested in Vaniqa so I wouldn’t have to go as often…
Creme - you shouldn’t be getting scars after laser. The area you are getting treated should be shaved the day of your laser treatment…if there are hairs sticking out, it will burn your skin. Btw you might want to check the board www.soulcysters.net. There are some ppl who have hair problems and share their experiences with different drugs they are using.
i also heard about this cream and i want to use it. i searched but i didnt get.
can u tell me that from where i can buy this cream.
I am in karachi. if any one knows tell me the name of shop.
Vaniqa works better for hormonal growth of hair - ex. from chronic steroid use.
Not so great if it's PCOS related though. Definitely not if your facial hair is pure genetics. In which case, you just need to go for some lasering treatments or continue to wax.
That's my two cents from personal use of Vaniqa though....
Oh, and it must be emphasized that if you have PCOS, bottom line - you need to lose weight. 80-90% of cases are associated with weight gain beyond what your normal homeostasis is set at.
So, work out, and lose weight and we're talking like 20-30 lbs minimum.
Granted, some PCOS cases are associated with normal weights, and so those can be more tricky.
And then getting on birth control and regulating your cycles can also help with the hair growth and acne. I know plenty of my friends - their faces cleared up when they got on birth control. And for some of you, that might mean using a ring or some other implant so you dont forget to take pills.
Some evidence that being on metformin also helps, but it's hleping at the level of the insulin resistance. Some people I know - their symptoms got a lot better after they started metformin, but that also comes with it's side effects like diarrhea.
So, instead of the birth control and metformin and all the pains of hair removal...just get rid of the underlying reason: the weight. Of all the diets, my experence with the South Beach diet was the best in this regard. You lose weight and it works to decrease the insulin resistance which is the root cause of the entire problem for why you're growing the hair in the first place.
