vanilla extract

if arecipe requires vanilla extract would it be ok to skip over it? does it make that much of a difference? is it like baking soda…a little maount makes a huge diff :hmmm:

Re: vanilla extract

its a nice flavor, if you have nothing else in the recipe....it may not get a good taste.

Re: vanilla extract

Yea it will make a difference, use one vanilla bean pod instead if you don't want to use vanilla extract for its alcohol content.

Re: vanilla extract

Makes a diff in flavour, but as belle says, use a pod or get a different type of vanilla flavouring (Artificial) if its about the alcohol.

Re: vanilla extract

i often don't have it around, i skip over it for recipes, maybe even add kewra or rose water n make it desi cuz i actually have those things

Re: vanilla extract

It's for flavor, sometimes not adding it will make a huge difference.

If you are concerned about alcohol (artificial vanilla extract also contains alcohol) make vanilla sugar using the vanilla bean.

Re: vanilla extract

If you are in states then you can purchase non-alcoholic vanilla extract from Trader Joes.

Re: vanilla extract

is vanilla extract "haram".....
i didnt think so

Re: vanilla extract

it makes a difference. if ur making sumthing that already has alot of flavours then it wont effect much. but if ur making sumthing simple like custard or cake then it will cuz they dont have any flavour of their own they taste bland without it.
