All three are gigantic icons in media. The first for his great paintings, the other for his well tailored dresses and accessorires and the last for making the ordinary woman extraordinary.
With todays media we have so many changes on TV. Yesterdays, Rated PG13 has turned into today’s Rated G. Canadian ratings in particular are very lenient after certain laws passed by a few high on hashish hell’s angels judges.
My question to you all is where would we draw the line today?
What defines art?
What is style and fashion?
What is pornography? and why do they even bother with subcategories if it is pornography?
Don’t you think the line between art, fashion and porn is growing thinner and thinner ever since the greek got obsessed with the famous sculpture of the male body?
Art is defined as the arrangement of sounds, colors, forms, and movements. Art is a form of expression, whether it be through music or through painting, or drawing a picture, to building sculptures. I suppose expressing one's self through fasion and clothing and accessories is also an artform since it involves decorating yourself depending on your mood or occasion.
I agree that the line between art and pornography is getting thinner each day. However, pornography is also very much an artform in it's own way, be it negative if you may, and is subcategorized usually as "hardcore" or "softcore" pornography. These categories are necessary to differentiate the extremity between the two forms. More and more each day I find that pornography is breaking through to the mainstream. Europeans especially are very open about it, and even here in Quebec, pornography is shown uncencored each night on TV on local channels. So yes, art has come a long way since the Greek sculptures.
"Art" has evolved a great deal from the dawn of civilization to the present. Art comes in many forms even to its basic and most simple form such as a child slapping 2 pieces of hay together on a piece of paper and calling it a hockey stick, for example. Art is an expression of self, and has the tendency to become extreme at times tp the point of being offensive, as is the case with porn (hard and soft). The limits are set by society and beaurocracies as to what extent this "artform" is permissible for the general public. Overall, this is a very gray area...no fine lines...and seems the lines are getting blurrier each day.
