no.. 'vain talk' or 'idle talk' refers to what the unbelievers or the hypocrites used to indulge in.. denying Allah's communications etc..
however you will find many 'scholars' trying to twist the interpretations to mean anything and everything ranging from what goes on in Cafe' to even music and singing.
well it's more about denying Allahs communications.. i had written a 'proof' by analyzing verses and cross checking but my hard work was deleted by the then mod of Religion.. appeared he didn't like losing arguments to facts..
i really am in not the same spirits about all this Religion stuff these days.. so sorry can't comply.
salam,
it was last year that i found this in the quran and had it saved, it has alot of meaning, and would make more sense, if you read the whole surah.
It's from Surah Waqia (The Event, The Inevitable)
56:24 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life).
56:25 No frivolity will they* hear therein, nor any mischief,-
56:26 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace".
Commentary:-
*apart from physical ills, worldrly feasts or delights are apt to suffer from vain or frivolous discourse, idle boasting, foolish flattery, or phrases pointed with secret venom or moral mischief. The negation of these from the enjoyment of the garden.
There are four diseases of the heart (source; not sure, i think sufi teachings)...
1. Too much eating.
2. Too much sleeping.
3. Too much talking(idle talk)
4. Bad company.
If the heart is clean, so is the body. The prophet pbuh said "Verily in the body there is a piece of flesh. If it is sound, the body is all sound. If it is corrupt, the body is all corrupt. Verily, it is the heart. "
