Vaccine

Are you aware of an anti-vaccine movement? Apparently, some groups reject vaccines due to religious reason, and some others reject it due to health reasons. They claim that vaccination leads to autism, and various other conditions.

And now Jenny McCarthy is campaigning against it also, and Jim Carey setup a $50 Million trust for her.

My personal opinion is that my kids will get vaccinated, regardless of what these people say.

Re: Vaccine

^If you read all those books written by experts who are “anti-vaccine”. nowhere they say that don’t have vaccines at all rather they guide parents to have vaccines on correct timings and also not to combine different vaccines at a time.

These are good books you should read before labelling others anti-vaccine etc.

Re: Vaccine

Yes Hareem is right, the vaccine awareness these days simply educates parents to make an informed decision.

I have read Jenny Mc Carthy's views on this subject and the gist of her stand is, that one size may not fit all, when it comes to vaccines. Even when we give tylenol or any other pain/fever reducer to our kids, we are advised by our doctors to give a weight appropriate quantity because obviously not all kids of a certain age weigh the same and an overdose might harm them. The same rule could apply to vaccines, keeping in mind kids who are born preemies or are under-weight, thus having weaker or under-developed immune systems than kids of the same age-group, who might become victims of an overdose. food for thought. of course so far FDA has denied all links btw autism and vaccinations.

I have been reading up on vaccines lately to be prepared for when I have kids, here are some facts I gathered from a Canadian Vaccination Risk Awareness Network:

Vaccines contain foreign animal proteins: Vaccines are cultured in such tissues as monkey kidney cells, rabbit and dog brains, horse blood, fetal calf blood, chick embryos, and, yes, even human fetal lung tissue. Under normal circumstances, the body only encounters foreign animal proteins though the digestive tract; when injected directly into the blood stream, these proteins can wreak havoc on the body.

Today, Canadian infants may be injected with up to 8 vaccines at one time, starting at the age of two months. By age 6, a child can receive up to 41 doses of 11 vaccines with more new vaccines about to be added to the line-up. Injections are not adjusted according to the baby’s weight—a 5lb infant will be injected with the same amount of vaccine as a 12lb infant.

Vaccines bypass the body’ body’s normal lines of immune defence: There is a fundamental issue with injecting particles of infectious diseases directly into the bloodstream, thereby bypassing the immune system’s first line of defence—called the Th1 level of the immune system—in a “surprise attack” on the second line of defence—called the Th2 level—that is so distressing to the body it can cause anaphylactic shock. In nature, diseases are introduced into the body through the nose, mouth, skin and lungs, triggering a first line of defence that usually combats the illness before it ever reaches the bloodstream. Vaccines’ repeated “back-door assaults” on the Th2 level of the immune system make it hyper-sensitive and compel it to react inappropriately to other normally harmless substances like peanuts; the result is a generation of children with damaged immune systems who suffer from food and environmental allergies, asthma and increasingly with life threatening anaphylactic disorders

Immunization assumes it is okay to sacrifice a few for the good of many: Mass immunization is based upon a “herd mentality” in two ways: first, it implies that every person is the same and therefore every person should be medicated in the same way (indeed that everyone, healthy or not, be medicated); second, it necessitates the belief that it is acceptable to sacrifice a few for the good of the majority. (The “few” parents of children injured or killed by vaccines likely beg to differ.)

Vaccination assumes that childhood diseases such as measles, mumps, and chicken pox are dangerous and “bad”. Conversely, others believe that childhood disease naturally builds the immune system and that, in healthy children, these diseases are not dangerous. In fact, contracting them in childhood provides natural lifetime immunity to them and protects the body against more dangerous related adult diseases. For instance, shingles occurs when adults who have previously had chickenpox are no longer exposed to “boosting” doses of chickenpox in the community.

Re: Vaccine

When my first son was born, all of this hoopla about vaccines was not really big in the news. I wish it was. Vaccines are surely necessary. But like Jenny McCarthy points out, each child is different and there should be a more responsible approach to giving them.

There has never been a clearly established link between autism and vaccines. Yet, my first son was only just over 5 lbs and swallowed meconium during birth. So he was underweight and at risk, spent his first 2 days in NICU. And they started sticking him with needles before he left the hospital! With the same dosage as they give to healthy 9 pounders. Thats almost DOUBLE the weight of my son. Vaccines typically no longer have Thimerosol (mercury) but they DO wreak havoc on the immune system - and dosage is the same whether its a 4 pounder or a 10 pounder baby.

Now that I know about it, I would encourage people to really look into the revised schedule of vaccinations, separate them and follow the safer schedule. Docs typically do not like this AT ALL but never forget YOU are the boss here.

Ya, even Jenny (whose son was diagnosed with autism after receiving a vaccine) clearly says she is not anti-vaccine, she is anti-toxins and anti-schedule.

Re: Vaccine

here’s an interesting video about a little girl.

Re: Vaccine

Thanks for sharing Hareem...even though Thimerosol has been removed from the vast majority of vaccines, it is still a concern that vaccines do things to the immune system that can trigger Autism which is what I suspect happened with my son, at least to some degree. He had symptoms even around age 1 (his first word was "Fan!", and he loved to watch fans spin, would spend as much time as we;d allow to spin wheels on toy cars) but prior to age 1, none of his vaccinations contained Thimerosol. But they surely gave him a vast number of vaccinations between birth and age 1.

I SO agree with the new parent-driven demand on Pediatricians to practice an individualized and separated, safer schedule of vaccination.

Me too! Parents have to pay more attention to this and question what is going on, instead of just taking a backseat and letting the doctor pump whatever and whenever into our babies. It is NOT the job of the pediatrician to take care of my child, it is MY job. My baby's health and safety is NOT the only responsibility of the pediatrician, it is MY responsibility too!! Parents really MUST be more informed about what vaccines their children are getting and learn to ask questions and look for answers!!
