Position: Laboratory Technician
Location: Mississauga, Ontario
Supervisor: Jim Alexopoulos, Group Leader
Duties:
· Provide support to various product groups (OSB, composites, industrial) in their efforts to supply our customers (both internal and external) with superior resins and technologies.
· Perform laboratory analyses and laboratory applications projects
· Prepare raw materials and fabricate and test wood-based panels and other products bonded with various resin types
· Evaluate products according to product standards and in-house procedures for physical and mechanical performance
· Analyze data and prepare technical reports
· Maintain laboratory in a clean, safe, and efficient condition, including ordering supplies and ISO certification
· Render assistance as needed at customer accounts
Qualifications:
· Post-secondary education in the areas of Chemistry, Engineering, Wood Science, or related field
Skills:
· Demonstration of ability to grasp the basic technical and scientific concepts for use in application studies, routine testing, data analysis, and report writing
· Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are considered an asset
· Excellent communication (written and oral) and organizational abilities are required
· Experience with wood-working equipment would be an asset
