*****v is a bitter bitter man !

India needed 1 run to win. Viru was on 99.

34.4
*****v to Sehwag, 1 no ball, match is over, but Sehwag has been denied the century. And this is a big no-ball, must I point out? His back foot was close to over-steeping, forget about the front foot. Anyway Sehwag smashed it for six over long-off, but they don’t count because the game finishes at no-ball. He raises his arms, but then realises the century is not completed. Doesn’t matter to him. He says: “It often happens. When a batsman is on 99 and the scores are level, bowlers try to bowl no-balls and wides. It happens in cricket. Fair enough.” What a man

Back foot was close to over stepping. It was very obvious this was deliberate. When India was about to lose the first test against the SL… did the lower India betters deliberately gift their last wickets to non-Murali bowlers so that Murali doesn’t get to 800 wkts?

SL is usually a very well behaved team and have one of the best sportsman spirit overall. But this was not in any spirit. Bitter about having rapped by Viru again.. *****v acted like a *****

Re: *****v is a bitter bitter man !

^HAHAHAHA I love how it bleeped out S. R a n d i v's name. HAHAHA.. S. RaNDDDIIIEWWW

Re: *****v is a bitter bitter man !

That was really a really cheap play by the one who's name cannot be mentioned.

Sangakara was equally upset about the whole thing.

That was like the biggest no-ball ever. I think the match referee will take some action against him.

Re: *****v is a bitter bitter man !

^ why will match referee take ANY action against him? Its not like he threw the ball at the batsman, oh wait that wouldn’t count here because both are browns.

I didn’t know the reason match-over while Sehwag at 99* was the no-ball, thats funny :hehe: but more painful for Sehwag.

SLC apologises to Sehwag for *****v’s no ball

DAMBULLA: An “upset” Sri Lanka Cricket on Tuesday apologised to Indian opener Virender Sehwag for the deliberate no-ball bowled by off-spinner Suraj *****v which left him stranded on 99 in their tri-series match here and promised action on the matter after getting a probe report.

SLC secretary Nishantha Ranatunga called up the Indian team managerRanjib Biswal and apologised for Monday’s incident.

Sehwag was just one short of his 13th ODI hundred when *****v, who had not bowled a no ball in the Test or ODI series this season, bowled one which was hit by the opener for a six. However, it did not count because the no ball amounted to India’s winning run leaving Sehwag on an unbeaten 99.

*****v’s antics were criticised by Sehwag in the post match press conference and to put an end to the furore, Ranatunga gave Biswal a call to apologise.

“In the morning, Ranatunga called me up personally and apologised on behalf of the board for the Sehwag incident,” Biswal said.

“He said this was not in the spirit of the game. Nishantha said ‘We have a good relationship with India and we apologise for yesterday’s incident’,” Biswal revealed.

The Indian manager said Ranatunga asked him to convey the apologies to Sehwag.

“Since the secretary has called us, we are treating this matter as closed,” Biswal said.

Ranatunga said that the SLC is awaiting the report from the team manager before deciding on further course of action.

“We have asked him to probe the incident. We will take necessary action in this regard once we get the report. We are upset about the incident and we are unhappy as Sri Lankan cricketers have won the ICC spirit of the game award thrice and these things won’t be tolerated,” he said.

India comprehensively won last night’s match by six wickets but the conduct of the Sri Lankan team caused upset in the visitors’ camp.

Minutes after the game, a livid Sehwag told reporters that Sri Lanka had used such tactics earlier also, pointing out that they had left Sachin Tendulkar stranded at 99 with a similar strategy in a match in Cuttack.

Sehwag said that *****v had not bowled a single no ball earlier and asked “How can he bowl one at this point?”

“It was clear that the Lankan team did not want me to get to my 100,” the opener said.

Re: *****v is a bitter bitter man !

Pakistani were more generous when they gave all 10 wickets to Anil Kumble :cb:

Re: *****v is a bitter bitter man !

:omg: :omg:

Re: *****v is a bitter bitter man !

I really feel for Sehwag. He should have made his 13th 100 but I dont think there is any reason to get Match Refree involved. No law was broken.

While we are discussing this, and Indian media is going ga-ga on the issue, isnt this the same as Bhajju or Kumble bowling out side the leg so batsmen can not score runs?

Re: *****v is a bitter bitter man !

According to Sehwag it happens often. He probably realizes Indian bowlers do that too. End of story. :)

Re: *****v is a bitter bitter man !

Probably happens a lot. But no one does it so bluntly as the Srilankan bowler did.

This is as bad as the underarm incident. Does not really matter because India won the match in the end, but it not good sportsmanship. Srilankan captain and board rightly upset.

Re: *****v is a bitter bitter man !

Decent...This particular case is different from negative bowling. Nobody is talking about negative bowling here. *****v deliberately bowled a no-ball to stop him scoring a century.

What if Indians had done the same thing in the first test match to stop Murali getting 800 wickets? What if Indians deliberately gave away the wicket to some other bowler?

Good sportsmanship is always needed in gentleman's game.

Re: *****v is a bitter bitter man !

^ You still believe cricket is gentelmen's game? Don't be fooled by "tea break". :)

Re: *****v is a bitter bitter man !

I totally agree to you except for the fact that deliberately bowling outside the leg is also not a Good sportsmanship.

Re: *****v is a bitter bitter man !

Negative bowling is not only done by Indians but by every other team in international cricket. I reiterate we are not discussing negative bowling here. For that matter, we can discuss several things which are not considered good sportsmanship (including ball tampering, dancing on the pitches and biting the ball).

This whole issue here is 'when a batsmen/bowler deserves getting some achievement' , let them. Why to do some cheap tricks to stop them? SL have to be stopped doing that, this is not the first time they did it.

Re: *****v is a bitter bitter man !

o

Re: *****v is a bitter bitter man !

yeah right..

Re: *****v is a bitter bitter man !

So you do admit that negative bowling is done by many and is not good, Sehwag also said 'no-ball' is done by many.... so why are you avoiding 'negative bowling'? Both are considered bad, lets move on.

Re: *****v is a bitter bitter man !

u forgot to mention rubbing sand on ball.... appealing for wicket when some batsmen is taking defensive action and get runout or perhaps appealing by bowler to get wicket when batsman on the other end is backing up too much?

btw, I did not say that only Indians do negative bowling. If many people/teams do something wrong, that does not make that thing right.

Re: *****v is a bitter bitter man !

It seems we all are discussing the same thing. Whatever *****v did was wrong.

BTW, *****v apologised Sehwag for his cheap act, and ends the controversy.

Re: *****v is a bitter bitter man !

It is getting uglier as Sangakkara’s instruction to *****v was recorded on stump mic saying not give run to Sehwag.
