Has anyone here had a myomectomy? Either laparoscopic or robotic (da vinci)? Really would like to talk to someone who has gone through the procedure.
P.S. I’m posting this here instead of Heath b/c it seems like quite a few of the women here have discovered health issues while TTC’ing/going through pregnancy etc. So I thought I may have a better chance at getting a response.
Paheli, no experience with fibroid removal, but I do have an extensive history of endometriosis and had a laparoscopic hysterectomy…don’t know if I can be of much help, but my BFF just had the same done because of extensive bleeding caused by fibroids
Paheli, my wife had a small fibroid which may or may not have been contributing to the two losses we experienced. The fibroid removal was trans-vaginal and a very easy and painless procedure with full recovery in a day or two. We conceived immediately after to full term. In addition, my wife has performed hundreds of these fibroid removals herself and says they are very routine and nothing to worry about.
na baba apne sath khud karna boht mushkil hy chahe jitna b experience ho wo bhi inside body .. Dosron se krwana alag hy lekin ek aam insan ki yehi soch ho skti hy . Main tU ek injection nhi laga skti khud ko fibroid tu boht agay ki baat hy ..
yes tabhi tU main itni heran thi k kese possible hy ye. He was saying k wo khud krti hain or oun k khud b fibroid thi tU i got confused .. Shayad he said k wo khud boht se patients k sath aisa karti hain .. Lol .. Im mad after falling pregnant ..
I MAY end up PM’ing you within the next week or so.
Question: Do you know the size of the fibroid your wife had? The one I have is 4.5x5.1x4.5cm and it’s intramural/submucosal in the right anterior. My doc says robotic myomectomy is my best option (I don’t have any kids) but I’m also exploring laparascopic myomectomy.
If its ok with your wife, I’d like to ask her some Q’s (through PM’ing you of course lol). I can find out the hard facts but my concerns are more related to cosmetic issues with these surgeries and also future fertility effects. All docs involved in my case also happens to be good friends of my husband’s so I’m not sure just how brutally honest they are being with me. :hinna:
Not to intrude Khatti but does that mean you can no longer have kids? And was the hysterectomy necessary for the endometriosis? I’m going to be having a dilation and curretage procedure in the next 3 weeks for an endometrial polyp in my uterus. I’ve considered getting a laproscopy to laser off the endometrial growth I do have.
Yes, the hysterectomy was because of my severe endometriosis. I had a long history of repeated miscarriages, surgeries and IVF. After my twins were born, I was advised not to try to conceive again and because of my bleeding issues, I elected to have the complete hysterectomy. I’ve chronicled my story in the the share your struggle with infertility thread
^ thanks khatti i’ll check it out. there’s so much variation to peoples experiences with endometriosis and even doctors seem at a loss to explain what will improve the situation that I’m always looking for more information to add to my mental library of potential scenarios. I take it in your case having children did not improve the endometriosis as it does with some people?
I agree..it can really vary. In my case, it was stage 4 endometriosis, and aside from the multiple miscarriages, infertility and IVF, it really affected my quality of life. I dealt with debilitating cramps, excessive bleeding, was bedridden for days every month, IBS because the scar tissue had enveloped my entire reproductive cavity, reached by bladder/bowels etc…my left ovary and Fallopian tube were damaged beyond repair. Having the hysterectomy was actually a no brainer for me.
