Umm what’s this, they are saying different things?

I don’t want pappar-like, they should be soft, so the oil should be hot enough or not?

Flour tortillas make the best puris! That’s the what we’ve been doing it in my family for years, and if you follow all those desi foodie groups in Facebook, plenty of ladies are doing the same!!

1. make sure you have FLOUR tortillas, not CORN tortillas!

2. oil temp is important, so make sure it’s too hot (you don’t want pappar!), if it’s not hot enough they get soggy

3. use your tongs to dip the tortilla into the oil and then let it go and flip it from side to side as it bubble ups and inflates, and then take it out and drain on a paper towel lined plate. The whole process only takes seconds.

4. I don’t know where you live but if you have a Kroger, they make fresh tortillas and those are the best ones I’ve found

Yup,I always use medium sized fresh flour only tortillas from my local grocery store and I have never had any issues.I have tried a few other brands but always found the generic ones from my grocery store to be the best.And the oil temperature makes a lot of difference.If it is not hot enough,they fried tortilla will never become paapar-like.
