Using smart phone without Sim

First two days in Lahore I wasn’t able to buy local Sim. Due to some system/3G upgrades ufone telenor and warid were not selling Sims. Those two days I used viber Skype and tango on WiFi.
Strange things started happening with in 10 minutes of taking out the existing Sim.
Viber started crashing
Default launcher and nova launcher started crashing
Camera aap keeps crashing.
Video gallery started freezing.
Same things in air.plane.mode.
Anyone else experienced such color bazian?

I dont understand how any system issues would have anything to do with the sim.

Leave your sim in, set your phone to airplane mode. then connect to wifi, but dont disable airplane mode.

did you install any other apps/ software?

Only updates of existing apps were installed. Nothing new installed.

I used my S4 in India for 2 days without a SIM as well. The process of getting SIM card is more complicated than I thought lol. But, in the meantime, I used Viber over WiFi and Whatsapp to message. Had no issues whatsoever. No crashing.

why not just leave old sim in, and use it in tayyara mode until you buy the new sim card?

what is this buggy phone anyway?

Yes, actually I did leave it in. I just remembered. My sweet sweet T Mobile SIM.

Buggy phone is nexus4.
will reset it once back to Calgary.
