Using Profanity

how do you feel about it?

What kind of language do u use

does it change depending on who you are talking to?

Re: Using Profanity

Ofc it depends on who I'm talking to :) Friend-talk and House-talk are two completely different things :p

Re: Using Profanity

^hypocritical? or diff things are appropriate at diff moments in life?

Re: Using Profanity

I don't think it's actually hypocritical. Probably the respect issue. You just can't talk to your parents the same way you talk to your friends :)

Re: Using Profanity

What is profanity? :hehe:

Anyhow, profanity is universally considered bad.

1- It shows the upbringing of the person.

2- It is considered cool by ususal standard these days. Schoold, colleges and other institutions and intermingling of good and bad students promote it.

3- Anyone who is against it/does not use it or likes it, is considered a nerd, dufuss or dumb.
These people are not so welcomed in the company of people who love to use profanity. I am talking about tasteless sexual talk not about hidden and not so blunt words.

4- Some do not even understand what profanity is.

5- Some try to use these words to try to enhance the weakness of their position or content of their discussion.

6- At times it is used to make people laugh or amused.

7- Women use it in more close company since they are not considered so ‘shareef’ if use it in public, but some still do.

8- Along the line of point 3 above, profanity does not include tasteful and correct use of sexual words or situations.

Example of such joke:

In a school one day a boy said to the teacher: I love to study alone and I read my books in our Teh_Khana. (Basement)

The teacher said:

Teh Ya Peh?

Re: Using Profanity

Profanity. It is used for effect. I wouldn't use it to express anger, for instance. For me, it's mainly about comic effect.
It is also useful to remember that swear words are just words, they contain only the power we give them.

Re: Using Profanity

I make a conscious effort never to use profanity cause once you get into the habit of it, it comes out of your mouth at the most awkward moment (like in front of your family for instance)

Re: Using Profanity

its a total :nono:
