im not trying to make my self look like a bad muslim... like i said no one is perfect, and i included my self in that discription. i dont try to be a perfect muslim but i try to stay away from as many sins as possible. i DO believe in Allah (swt) and i do believe Muhammas (saw) is His last messenger.... i just dont think when "extreme" muslims segregate against those who are not trying as hard at they are, or those who dont worship as much or as often as them
another example:
DJ Khaled... a musician on the rise. He is proud of his name and wears it high. He is always rocking his "ALLAH (swt) chain... though jewelry for men is forbidden.
I thought you said:
A muslim brother/sister is one who believes there is no God but ALLAH (swt) and that Prophet Muhammad (saw) is His last messenger....
So is it a person's belief in Allah(swt) and the Prophet Muhammad(sws) that makes them a Muslim or whether or not a person refrains from wearing jewelry?
good, so why would any of the above conditions be any problematic if this is your definition? I am asking logically. If you do have a problem with him doing this, then your definition needs more elaboration.
that's exactly what this topic is about... i dont have a problem with any one. evryone lives their lives as they please. who am i to judge any one. the real judgment will be done when their time has come, n its not gonna be by me.
im just saying i dont think its right for otehrs to judge any one based on their sins... its not fair to segregate against one just cuz he smokes or drinks or partys or wears jewelry or sins in any way....
from what I understand, becoming muslim is like a quest... similar to the allegory of Abraham:
6:76 When the night covered him, he saw a planet, and he said: "This is my Lord." But when it disappeared he said: "I do not like those that disappear."
6:77 So when he saw the moon rising, he said: "This is my Lord." But when it disappeared he said: "If my Lord will not guide me, then I will be amongst the wicked people!"
6:78 So when he saw the sun rising, he said: "This is my Lord, this is bigger." But when it disappeared he said: "My people, I am innocent of that which you have set up."
6:79 "I shall turn my face to the One who initiated the heavens and the Earth, in monotheism, and I am not of those who set up partners."
Also, is the bolded part of the verse supposed to be our QIBLAH? Just a thought...

Actually its Ayah 144 of 2nd chapter of the Qur'an that talks about Kaaba as qiblah.
144. We see the turning of thy face (for guidance to the heavens: now Shall We turn thee to a Qibla that shall please thee. Turn then Thy face in the direction of the sacred Mosque: Wherever ye are, turn your faces in that direction. The people of the Book know well that that is the truth from their Lord. Nor is Allah unmindful of what they do.

yes sis Hareem, this is the verse I was looking for. We have been asked to turn to al Masjid al Haram, and those given the book before has been mentioned already knew about it.
What then is the Qiblah (target)? What then is al Masjid al Haraam? The Truth from The Lord is/should-be our Target and that truth is al Masjid al Haraam. Does truth have any physical direction? What did Abraham turn to?
calling takfir like that is the example of kharijites they even killed a sahabi abdullah b khabbab [ra] and his wife in coldblood ...so there is no end to this madness
I think as Muslims we can point out shortcomings of these celebrities because they are in the public eye and do represent us in a way but Allah is the decider of their fate in the afterlife.
On the flip side we have people like Sami Yusuf and the two guys from Outlandish, who (as far as I know) have followed Islam very openly in the spotlight. I would like to commend them.
