Katie Price has received a backlash of abuse after shaving her son’s hair.

The model, famed for spending thousands of pounds on her own hair with special trips to LA for her extensions, tweeted the new style yesterday. However, Twitter has been awash with criticism after the mother-of-three allowed celebrity stylist Daniel Johnson let loose on her nine-year-old. Harvey’s new look consists of tribal patterning shaved into his hair on both sides of his head, with a section of thick hair in the middle.

But Katie has received hundreds of complaints, with one user stating: ‘Dear god, what have you done to that poor boy’s hair? So sad that you’ve made such a lovely child look so awful, poor kid.’ Another bombarded her with further criticism, adding: ‘He’s got the rest of his life to have thuggish hairstyles!!’

Yet the former glamour model was initially delighted with the finished result, sharing the pictures on her Twitter page, accompanied by the caption: ‘Loving Harveys new hair cut done by @iamdanielj.’ A spokesperson told The Mirror: ‘Harvey loves the feel of his hair and it is something that he touches and interests him.’

Johnson is a favourite stylist in the celebrity world, having looked after the locks of famous faces including Wayne Rooney and N-Dubz star Dappy. On his website, Johnson talks of setting up his first salon in St Albans, saying that he was 'the first stylist to bring new hair styles, patterns, mohawks, shape ups you name it.

‘I was getting footballers, actors and businessmen from all over as regular customers. I relocated to bigger and better premises the world was mine.’

However, even his Twitter account received hate mail and negative tweets.

While it remains to be seen what Harvey thinks of his new look, his adopted father Peter Andre is sure to have something to say. He was the first to ridicule Katie’s decision to allow their daughter Princess Tiaamii to wear make-up and false eyelashes in 2010. At the time he said: ‘In my opinion, a three-year-old child shouldn’t have her lovely hair straightened. If she wants to when she’s older, that’s fine.’

However, Peter is no stranger to experimenting with different looks when it comes to his hair, having gone from a bouffant crop style when he first shot to fame to a shaved look and everything in between. Katie has come under fire largely because critics believe Harvey is incapable of making the choice for himself. Her eldest child, the son of footballer Dwight Yorke, was born with autism, a rare condition which affects his growth and septo-optic dysplasia, which has left him with restricted sight.

Hmmmm… so was she wrong to do this or is it no big deal and are people making a mountain out of a molehill?

Re: Using her child as a fashion accessory?

for me its no big deal other than it looking ugly..seriously, one ugly style!! were it looking nice i would said fine, who cares.

Re: Using her child as a fashion accessory?

It’s just hair. They’ll grow back. It’s not like she’s abusing her kid. :smack:

Re: Using her child as a fashion accessory?

Actually she may be a better mother than most are giving her credit for. If her son has limited sight, then having this raised and textured hairstyle allows him to "see" his hair with his hands. The tactile enjoyment of his hair may be his way of enjoying/experiencing his hair - that actually shows me she understands her son's physical limitations and made a decision to help him experience more.

Re: Using her child as a fashion accessory?

Ttis is news? How?!

Re: Using her child as a fashion accessory?

I think people need a reason to bash parents...

Re: Using her child as a fashion accessory?

Coz it's the Daily Mail.

Re: Using her child as a fashion accessory?

Daily Mail aka Daily Fail...

Re: Using her child as a fashion accessory?

I said this in the other thread, but I think he has the rest of his life to have "normal" and stylish/flattering haircuts...it's just hair, it's not that big of a deal IMO

Re: Using her child as a fashion accessory?

she is the mother......she can do whatever she wants.

Re: Using her child as a fashion accessory?

So why quote stories from this paper yourself on GS :smack:

It’s called hypocrisy..

Re: Using her child as a fashion accessory?

Btw the story was also run in a couple of other tabloids, obviously it's not serious news, just a showbiz/celebrity piece with a twist, after all there are a million articles out there on Rihanna's latest hairstyle and so on.. I just thought it would be interesting to hear people's views on this..

I don't think it's a big deal.. some of the readers comments and the twitter reaction seem very OTT.. as has already been pointed out he prob enjoys playing with the differnt textures of it and at the end of the day it's only hair and is obviously going to grow back..
